Ashley Graham makes the cover of the Swimsuit Issue. Bravo, Sports Illustrated!
She's gorgeous!! I hate that this is newsworthy. : (

Believe me, so do I. Unfortunately we have the bitchy wingeing of Cheryl Tiegs to thank for that. sad
(8 years ago)
Huh? What did she do?
Basically that SI is glamorizing plus-size women for being unhealthy. Unfortunately not everyone chooses to live on diet coke and cigarettes.

Oh, is Ms Tiegs Ms Greene's doctor? : ) I don't know anything about her diet but I do know something about genetics and metabolism.

SI is glamouring beauty. That's all.

The joke of what she's saying is that thinner models tend to have extremely unhealthy eating habits. So to put them up on a pedestal is ludicrous.

Ashley is a stunning woman and is doing a great job of eradicating the stigma of plus-size women in the modelling industry. I love it. smile

I know enough of the regular modelling industry to agree with you about their unhealthy eating habits. To put anyone on a pedestal is ludicrous, actually.

I know enough about it too. Models who like to eat have struggled for years. It's messed up and I'm happy to see that some designers are including plus-sizes in their lines. Long overdue.

Glad to see a plus size woman make the cover of SI. About time is right. Love the curves. Horrible what the models have suffered.

Good on SI for this. Anything that celebrates the diversity of beauty is to be applauded. I love this gesture of affirmation, inclusion and validation.

M....what's even better is that SI has faith in their readership. This is no blind leap of faith on their part - they know that plus-sized women have become the average body type.

I am sick of hearing about it, honestly. I wish it was just not a big deal. If she is not Ms. Tieg's cup of tea, that is really OK as well....but she didn't need to make a "deal" of it.

....it was the "unhealthy" that Ms. Tiegs did not need to throw out there. We all like what we like, but health is a WHOLE other, complicated issue.

Yup. Well said, Lulu. Unless she's Ms Graham's doctor, she has little to say on her health.
Totally. As I mentioned above, the irony of her accusation is laughable.

SI knew what would make money / would get them attention, for sure. I forgot the swimsuit issue was still a thing until last week.

As long as there are jr. high/high school boys, there will be an SI swimsuit issue

Well, Pony.....I've been known to pick it up. And not as long ago as high school either. wink I appreciate women's bodies as much as men's. smile
