I just watched a video on the origins of the state names in my country. I was born and now live in Indiana. It derives from being called 'indian land'. A rather boring name for a rather boring state. But I'm happy here, so who cares? ~ | ||

Today we celebrate our Declaration of Independence from England in 1776 in the United States. A lot of people in the U.S.A. think that that was when we became a country. Actually, England didn't like our declaration, so we had to beat them in the Revolutionary War to gain our independence. When a treaty was signed in Paris in 1783, we then became the United States of America. Just in case you didn't know. ~ | ||
