Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

It's Halloween time again. I don't go to bars or Halloween parties any more, but I still like to celebrate. I came up with a good idea a few years ago and it has become a ritual now. I take white and black costume makeup that you can buy around Halloween. I put smudges of black around my eyes, then mix black and white together to make a gray makeup that I use to cover my head, my neck, my arms and hands. I put a little styling gel in my hair and make it stick out all over the place, really wild looking. What you wear isn't important - just dress sloppily. Then I go about my usual routine that day. I leave the window down on the car when I'm driving, which gets me a lot of funny looks from people. When I go into a store, I walk slowly and occasionally snarl at people who stare. No one ever asks me what I'm dressed as... I mostly get compliments and even picture requests! So if you're ever in my area and see a zombie walking around, don't chop my head off until you've asked me if I'm real or not first, o.k.? Happy Halloween!

Six of the nine apartments in my building have cats. My next door neighbor has a sign on his door which reads: BEWARE OF ATTACK FLAMINGOS My neighbors in the house behind me have two ducks (one black, one white). Across the street, someone owns a dog big enough to ride. All of this fits well into my liking of variety in my life. ~

With everything going on in the world, we now have something new to argue about: The new Windows 11 vs the 'old' Windows 10. Preliminary research I've done says there's no real difference between the two. This begs the question: Why come out with something 'new', when it's the same as the old? Looks like another one of those things that make you go HMMMMM... ~

For the first time in a week I awoke at my regular time. No roofers banging away. No mowers droning away and No drunken neighbors screaming at one another. Waking up fully rested and in a good mood is WONDERFUL! ![]()

Religion comes down to two points: Believe in God and promote love, not hate. I have not been a church goer for years, but I still try to accomplish these simple goals. The big point people seem to forget is that we are given free will. Because of free will people do harm to one another. God is not telling you to do bad things to each other. When someone does these things, it is not God doing the direction, it is man. ~

All of my sports teams have been losing lately, both amateur & professional. Luckily I outgrew the urge to wager years ago when money grew tight. If I hadn't, I'd be in the poor house, probably with broken arms and legs. ~

I started playing baseball at age 6. I had broken my left arm (I'm naturally left handed), so I learned to throw and halfway bat right handed. By age 8, I was playing in the local Cub Scout League, where I led everyone in being hit by the pitch and broke my nose being hit while pitching by a line drive. Up to the age of 13 I played little league, where I drew the most walks and developed a potent arm playing the outfield. Freshman year of high school, I played one game because 2 guys were hurt and if I didn't play we had to forfeit the game. I hit 2 home runs (one a grand slam), drove in 6 runs and threw out 2 runners in the field. After the game I walked up to the coach and quit. After high school, I played sand lot ball until I went to a Chicago White Sox tryout. I was told that if I learned to hit a slider, I could come back and they'd sign me. I couldn't, so I spent the next years playing softball, retiring at age 43. I have a really good outside shot with a basketball, but couldn't make the basketball team because I was only 5'2" until after my sophomore year, when I finally started to grow (I'm 6'1" now). So I played in the Industrial Leagues and in open tournaments until I retired at age 39. Football? Even though I could catch almost anything I could get at least one hand on, I was relegated to sand lot because for a long time I was only 5'2" and weighed 130lbs. (probably soaking wet). Never learned to ice skate, so I didn't even try ice hockey. We had no ice skating facility in my area. So that's it. My semi-life as a part time jock. Any questions? ~
