Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

In spring, a young man's fancy turns to love. In summer it's women wearing less, so lust rules with the heat. Fall brings out the sweaters and slacks (or jeans), so one's imagination must be sharply focused. Winter is Hell. Not only are women bundled up, but it's so cold that you must worry more about staying warm than being able to fantasize. God, how I hate winter.

I would rather eat sausage than bacon, BUT bacon grease makes a better gravy for biscuits & gravy. Just my humble opinion. ~

On my way home from work Wednesday night, around 10pm, I saw a wolf. He was walking, not running and when he saw my car he stopped in the middle of the road and stared at me as I drove by. It wasn't a coyote. It was big and gray. Supposedly there haven't been any wolf sightings in my state for a long time, so I figure it must be someone's pet and got loose. Just another unusual sighting on my journey home. ~

I received an email today from the landlord's office, asking me if I want to extend my lease for another year. While reading it, my neighbors across the street, of 'Southern-American' heritage, are drunk at 2:30 in the afternoon and are screaming at one another... again. A car is parked in the parking lot, has been for a week, with a flat tire. A little over a week ago I was awakened at 4am by the sounds of gunfire. Turns out a person randomly shot out the windows of a car for no reason. The security cameras caught them and they were arrested. This is a middle class neighborhood, near the university and the hospital. It is normally quiet and safe. Ambulance and police response times are fairly quick. The landlord is a good guy I've known for over 20 years. He works hard at the upkeep and security of my residence. I will probably 're-up' for another year, but it does get me thinking that if I were to come into some money overnight, I just might move back out to the country and retire. It does make one wonder, when even quiet ares are becoming 'invaded' by an undesirable element more frequently. ~

Another of those politically correct situations arose for me yesterday... kind of. I posted a picture on FB of a man with a rather odd looking hairdo and captioned it: How queer is that? I received a comment from a woman I've known since high school, telling me that we can't use that word any more. When I was done chuckling, I wrote back that it is true that calling a homosexual 'queer' is indeed frowned upon today. But, when you use the word as it is defined, to say something (not someone) is odd or different, it is perfectly acceptable. I know quite a few people, either from work or socially who are homosexuals that I consider to be nice people and I would not try to slur them by calling them names. A person's sexual orientation is their business, not mine. It's true that the bible says for people not to 'lay' (have sex) with the opposite sex. It also says not to drink too much, eat too much, lie, cheat and to not have sex with a married person. Who am I to judge what people do or don't do? I have enough problem keeping myself in line without taking on someone else's activities. ~

People my age are always moaning about how great it was growing up in the 1960's. Yes, kids had more personal freedom. Yes, everything was cheaper. Yes, there was great t.v. to watch on only 3 channels. All of those flowery tributes about being a kid long ago are true. BUT They forgot about the threat of nuclear war. We actually practiced drills in school to 'duck & cover'. When Cuba got missiles from the U.S.S.R, there were tense moments when the world might have been blown up. They forgot about a president, his brother and a racial leader for peaceful equality were assassinated. They forgot about race riots in our schools. They forgot about an unpopular war where 18 & 19 year olds were being damaged physically and mentally. Back in those olden times, parents shielded their children from the news. Parents took these bad things better because they grew up during the Great Depression and then fought in a World War. Adults back then had greater respect for authority, something my generation fought against and helped to start the erosion that continues today. I remember the good from childhood. I also remember, sadly, the bad. We have become a generation that blots out the horrors of the past. And that ain't good. Those same people that I played tag with, then smoked dope & drank with are now either waving a flag and denouncing anything that doesn't resemble the America of the 1950s, or are still drinking and smoking like it's 1969. You want to know what's wrong with America? It is us. The Greatest Generation built us up, then we Baby Boomers took the ball and dropped it. Short memory is a disease I can do without. I love America, warts and all. I just hope there's enough of us left to right the ship. ~
