What confuses you when it comes to cooking? I feel like a child when I'm trying to make rice....
not much honestly...I'm pretty good in the kitchen.
Me too, but rice is a constant mind fuck.

you should get boil-in-bags or a rice cooker

You cook your food, and just don't scratch around in the leaves and eat what you uncover? Who knew...

Boil your rice in a broth! Works every time smile

jambalaya is more like a rissoto

Why can't it be like pasta? Boil water add rice & it's done in "x" amount of time?

the only thing that confusses me about cooking is how some people can be so bad at it

Rice is easy... bring rice and water to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and ignore for 25 minutes ( more for brown rice)
rinse rice, place in saucepan and cover with boiling water. cover pan and simmer until all water has gone, stirring once during cooking.

once before I cover it and a fluff when done
(7 years ago)
I don't stir my rice either, cover 1 cup of rice with 2 cups of broth, let most of it boil away and the rest soak into the rice. Done.

with some electric cooktops you may just want to turn the burner off
(7 years ago)
same here but takes like 30mins...your stove must defies all laws of physics tongue

Boil 2 cups of water, add rice and stir, turn heat to lowest setting, cover, cook 15 minutes, remove from heat let rest 5. Or, you can boil it like pasta, rice won't stick that way which makes it

good for rice salads.
To rinse or not to rinse, it really depends on the rice, read the directions. If the rice has vitamins added (fortified) rinsing will rinse it away.

Nothing phases me in the kitchen...however the bedroom is another is an entirely different matter.
General rule in both the kitchen & the bedroom: If it starts to burn it's time to stop
