Monday, July 15, 2013, 12:16:35 AM- Tribute to Jon Lord, Hammond keyboardist extraordinaire...
As a follow up to my previous blog, here is a wonderful tribute to Jon Lord that Ritchie Blackmore just released oh his new Blackmore's night album. In spite of any issues surrounding his departure from Deep Purple, Jon's death really touched him. The keys in this tune are a close approximation of Jon's style and sound on the Hammond. A fitting tribute...

Saturday, July 13, 2013, 9:51:45 PM- What? More Deep Purple?!? Good classical stuff, rearranged
This is something that Blackmore did with Rainbow, that he carried on with Deep Purple when they reformed. This got me into classical music. A great arrangement of Beethoven's 9th. Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore were an unbeatable pair, both in studio and live. This is an excellent performance from the last tour Blackmore did with the band, before his final departure. Worth it to sit through the whole thing...

Friday, July 12, 2013, 1:46:29 AM- An oldie, but a goodie, from Chicago
Here's a great tune from Chicago, from Chicago XI. The late, great Terry Kath doing vocals. He had a very distinctive sound, was one of the founding members of the band and an excellent guitarist. They showcase the horn section heavily, along with Kath's vocals. Sounds fabulous with headphones. This is a rich sounding tune and long one of my favorites.

Saturday, July 6, 2013, 2:32:02 PM- George Harrison
Long one of my favorite Beatles, along with John Lennon, I really love this playful tune from his final album Brainwashed. You can tell his health is failing him at this point. Still a wonderful performance. Hope you enjoy...

Wednesday, July 3, 2013, 1:11:17 AM- Awesome chandelier
I took this shot looking over the lobby of the Oriental Theater in downtown Chicago a couple of years ago when I saw Hair. The Oriental is very beautiful, Orientally inspired in decor and a great place to watch a stage production. Not bad for an Iphone pic.

Saturday, June 29, 2013, 9:41:29 PM- Covered bridge
I took this last summer. I really like old structures. They fascinate me. I am trying to rekindle my inner photographer. I used to constantly take pictures and stopped due to the cost of film and processing. Digital photography has made it possible to start up again and gives me complete control of the image. One of the things I love about the digital age...

First video from Deep Purple in 20 years. Won't see this on MTV (do they even show videos?). From their new album Now What?! Old guys can still rock...

From the first Deep Purple album featuring David Coverdale and Glen Hughs doing dual vocal duties. This tune kicks some major ass.
