It's an old southern tradition for luck in the new year.

Your first meal of the day should consist of:

Ham

Blackeye peas

Sauerkraut (or cooked cabbage)

Cornbread

If everybody's out to get you,

odds are somebody would have gotten you by now.

If Sunday is New Year's Eve,

that makes Saturday New Year's Adam,

because Adam came before Eve.

... where credit is due,

I have to (once again) tip my hat to the Japanese.

'Train to Busan' is a superior Zombie flick.

For the past 50 years,

I have seen Japan take a product and make it better.

For just one day,

we could all change sexes.

For just one day,

we could all change races.

Maybe then,

we could all understand each other better.

~

I've been retired for a whole year now.

I've settled into a routine:

I take a walk.

I work out.

I shower and shave.

I drink some coffee while I navigate the 'net.

I eat lunch.

I take a drive.

I read the newspaper online.

I read a few pages of the current novel I'm into.

I do a crossword, the Jumble and a word search (for my brain).

I eat dinner.

I relax and watch a movie or a couple of t.v. shows.

I go to bed for the night.

It's a fairly easy routine that keeps me busy and that I enjoy.

Still,

occasionally I wake up in the morning and for just a second,

I fall back in my mind to my old work routine.

But only for a few seconds.

Then I chase those old thoughts out of my head,

realize how content I am in my new life,

and I smile.

Life is good when you (as the Beatles said) just 'let it be'.

The holy day is past us.

Time to go back to our usual naughty thoughts.

The level of my Christmas happiness can be related in two words:

Belgian chocolates.

... MERRY CHRISTMAS! to one and all.

According to Consumer Reports, chocolate contains a high amount of lead.

Dark chocolate is the worst.

Definitely sad news for a chocoholic like me.
