Do not go quietly into the night:

I had been out shopping and the back seat of my car was full of groceries and other things I'd bought.

I brought one load in and went back for the second and last.

As I neared my car, I heard a muffled crunching sound and then felt

a hand upon my shoulder.

I jumped and yelled an obscenity at the same time.

Turning and raising my fists to defend myself,

I saw my neighbor holding a bag of potato chips in one hand and a shopping bag in the other.

He swallowed his mouthful of chips and asked if he could help carry anything for me.

No thanks, I told him.

You've taken a year off my life and that will be sufficient.

We both chuckled,

but it was a few minutes before my heart rate returned to normal.

The next time I go outside at night for anything I'm taking a flashlight...

it makes a good little club.

Called someone by the wrong name while in the middle of sex?

Or been called the wrong name?

I've been called the wrong name once.

I laughed and told the girl I wasn't that person, I was substituting for them.

There's a reason we call each other baby, sweety and honey during sex.

The power went half out in my place Wednesday night.

The living room and bedroom were affected.

I lost signal on 2 t.v.s and my internet went out.

It's December, which means it got cold pretty fast.

I read by oil lamp light, then watched some DVD's on my computer.

Went to bed early and got up

Thursday early.

After 3 phone calls I got an electrician to come out.

He checked the circuit box and all of the sockets here.

Finally, of course it was the last one he checked, he found a bad socket and replaced it.

After 17 hours, I'm back to normal,

cozy warm and content.

My older insists on putting my full name on cards and packages she mails to me...

even though I've told her repeatedly to stop doing that.

In today's world,

scammers and identity thieves are looking for information on you.

Giving them a leg up by seeing your full name is not helping.

I thought I was being paranoid,

that I was being watched or followed.

Then came a knock at my front door...

It was my neighbor,

wanting to borrow some tools.

Silly me.

The next time you get some kids to shovel your sidewalk/driveway,

be a good employer -

bring them some hot chocolate.

Employees like fringe benefits.

I have a often repeated dream of being late for english class

at my old high school.

Someday I hope to get there on time.
