Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

On my way home today, I passed a young man driving a pickup truck going the opposite way towards the University. White male, young, with a huge Confederate flag waving out of the passenger window. I wonder if he's about to make the news? ![]()

Wednesday, on my way into work, a little old lady pulled out in front of me. I locked up my brakes and avoided hitting her and a truck coming towards me in the opposite lane. Happy I hadn't hit anyone, I continued on to work. When I started to turn into the parking lot, I gave a few obscenities directed towards that little old lady... the one who could barely see over the steering wheel, the one who's life I'd just saved. My brake pedal went to the floor! Easing my car into a parking spot, I got out and looked under the car. Brake fluid was streaming out into a big puddle beneath my car. I had popped my brake line. There was nothing else I could do, so I went inside and worked my shift. Luckily I work second shift, so there was less traffic on the roads as I babied my car back home. Thursday, I got up, called the garage, and then had my car towed in to be worked on. Two hours later I was picked up and driven back to the garage to pick up my car. The bill came to $185.00, $55.00 for the tow, $18.00 for parts and new fluid, and, of course, $105.00 for labor. Just another couple of days in the lifetime learning experience. All is well once more. ~

I have lived through a LOT of shit in my almost 65 years. And now, just when I'm almost ready to retire and enjoy some free time doing what I've always wanted to do, a couple of demented idiots are trying to start a nuclear war. As Charlton Heston once said: DAMN THEM ALL TO HELL! ![]()

I met the love of my life at age 22. We split up (my fault) one week before we were to be married three years later. After a brief time, we tried to work it out. She disappears, then I find her married to one of my oldest friends... and pregnant, not four months after the last time we were together. Two ears later they move to Alaska and I haven't seen her since. Other than a message of hello from her baby sister through Facebook, no contact in 39 years. And yet, like last night, I still have dreams of her and I together. Usually once or twice a month. I have no answers. ~

... where every hard working person must go on Monday - to work. The weather has cooled off, my new George Foreman grill is a treat and my beloved Boston Red Sox swept the Chicago White Sox four straight... and I was able to see every inning! At least I can start the week off with a smile. ![]()
