Monday.

It practically rhymes with the descriptive word mundane.

How many people actually look forward to the start of another work week?

I suppose there are those who love their jobs and would anticipate happily going to work,

but for the rest of us, it's a feeling of the start of 'the grind'.

The last time I looked forward to going to work was when I was 35, newly divorced and working as a movie extra,

surrounded by the stars.

For those of you who revel in what you do: Have a happy, fulfilling day.

For the rest of us: Hold your head up as you tread those crappy waters.

Another lazy Sunday:

Had a lie in, which, combined with turning back the clocks, gave me extra time to sleep and not waste any daylight.

Fixed a cup of tea and scanned the paper.

Checked my emails and messages online.

I'll be having some cheese and crackers for a light brunch, then, since it's supposed to be 60 degrees and sunny today, I will take the car for a wash and wax before topping off my gas tank.

When I get home, I think I might watch a movie before fixing a breakfast dinner of sausage and eggs.

A hot shower and I'll be ready to laze about in my recliner and watch some t.v. before reading a part of my latest novel and then bed.

Retirement is getting closer and the chance to do this on a more regular basis is looking better and better.

Ah, boring days...

Hinky Day!

My closest ATM didn't work for 3 days and when it did, it was messed up and I couldn't withdraw any money.

The computer acted up, but after a reboot it was fine.

My shower decided it was time to get out, because the water started coming out warm instead of hot, but the hot water worked fine while I was shaving.

And it's only 2:30pm.

Hmmm...

I was married from ages 29 to 33.

It was a nasty divorce, but I moved on.

When asked why I haven't remarried since, I have a simple answer:

Once bitten, twice shy.

A 28 yr. old young man I work with is usually moaning about growing up at the wrong time. It seems he would have rather grown up when his father and I grew up - the '60s & '70s.

Last night he said the same thing. I looked at him for a moment, then told him that if he wanted to know what it was like, to throw away his cell phone and computer and he would be half way there.

The horrified look on his face was priceless.

Be careful what you wish for, buddy.
