Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

| Sunday, March 6, 2022, 2:44:05 AM- Roots | ||
Anyone who knows me personally knows that I am a true blue baseball fan. I played from the time I was in the fourth grade until I was 19. I had a tryout with the White Sox, but didn't make the cut. I hung up my spikes then and changed to cleats to play softball until age 42. I grew up in basketball crazy Indiana. I didn't play basketball in school, mainly because I was too short - I didn't really grow big enough to play until I was nearly graduated. I played scores of pick up games and for local teams in tournaments. I was even recruited by the small college I attended, but by then I smoked and drank to much to (I thought) get in shape to play. I didn't play football in school, even though I wanted to play. The coach didn't think I was big enough physically to play until my senior year and by then I said no, simply because he wouldn't let me play my first three years of high school. Too bad - all of those years playing sandlot or intramural football proved to everyone I had great hands and pretty good moves. Now I watch, either in person or on tv. I'm a dyed in the wool Red Sox fan and watch every game I can. I prefer college over pro in both basketball and football, but still love to watch high school basketball the best. My alma matter has the record for having won the most state championships of any school in the state. I always try to catch as many games in the state tournament as I can. I get a kick out of seeing the raw emotions of the kids battling to be the best. My neices both played basketball and volleyball in high school, but that was in another state. Both of them have children of their own now and as soon as I retire, I plan on visiting and watching the next generation play. Whatever the sport they choose, I'll be their number one fan. I'm keeping the circle going, even if it's from the sidelines. ~

Due to slow upload speeds today, today's blog will appear tomorrow. Or, as my Dad used to quip: Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. Stay tuned. ~

I had a headlight go out on my car last night. Today I took it to Auto Zone. $18.00 for a new bulb. BUT The guy who waited on me put the bulb in for me and explained everything as he went along, so now I should be able to change the next one myself. It was worth the price for the lesson. ~

Alcohol is God's way of apologizing to humanity for all the evil in the world. Except for Tequila. That came from Satan. ![]()

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one. The older I get, the more I see that the truth lies in the gray area that is in the middle of two different opinions. I'm finding out that I'm much more comfortable and happy sitting on the fence in between. ~
