Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

Monday is beginning to look ominous: I dropped the soap in the shower. I dropped the can of shaving cream while I was shaking it. I dropped one of my shoes I was going to put on my foot. I dropped a freshly cut tomato on the floor. I dropped the lettuce container into the soapy water of the sink. I dropped my car keys as I was putting them into my pocket. And I haven't left for work yet. All of these drops on a Monday. It's like a sign I should get a lucky rabbit's foot. ![]()

My first year of little League, I played on a team the went 2-12. I had the second best batting average on the team. The best average was by our shortstop. The coach's son was the pitcher. He pitched every game and threw nothing but curveballs (I know. I had to catch him one game and no matter what sign you put down, that's all he through... and they weren't good ones, either. Hence the 2-12 record). At the end of the season, two players from each team were selected for the All Star team that would play the league champions. Our shortstop was picked. Guess who the other All Star was? That's right - the coach's son. Sometimes it's not how good you are, but who you know that counts. A lesson learned at an early age. ~

I am product loyal. If something I use works to my satisfaction, I'll continue to buy that brand. Sometimes you have to be prepared to pay for it though. Case in point: There's a brand of shoe that I've been wearing a long, long time - probably longer than most of you have been alive. The good news is that these shoes last quite a while. The bad news is that when you finally need to replace them it'll cost you. The last pair of these excellent shoes I bought cost me $35.00. Now, to replace them with the same type - $90.00. That's how good they are and how long they last. Are they worth the increased cost? Could I find something comparable somewhere else for less? Yes and yes. But - I am, like I said, product loyal and I am happy when I know what I'm getting. So I'll pay for the increase. What price happiness? ~

Is it a pandemic related shut down shopping online experience that I feel giddy about ordering a large supply of bar soap at a steal of a price today? How about the soon to be rising expectation of seeing the package left outside my front door in two days? Is this the new normalcy? Will I ever miss the contact of buying in person again? Oh well, never mind. It's time to order dinner. ~

Today feels like the bottom of the ninth. If I don't win some money in the lotto from last night, I have to go back to work Monday. Checking now (fingers crossed): It looks like Mighty Casey has struck out. There is no joy in Muddville today. ![]()
