Right about the time I returned home from my little walk in the rain yesterday, it really started coming down.

Think buckets.

After an hour or so it let up, so I got in my car and drove across town.

When I started back for home, here it came again.

Coming down so hard I had to pull over because I couldn't see more than 20 feet in front of me.

After 15 minutes or so it finally slowed to a drizzle, leaving me to navigate flash-flooded streets.

A short drive turned into an odyssey.

45 minutes later I arrived safely at home once more.

I remembered thinking that I had originally wanted to do something different hours earlier.

And then I thought of the old Irish saying:

Be careful what you wish for - you just might get it.

Today I see we received between 5 to 6 inches of rain in a couple of hours.

Since we had been close to a drought here it was, in hindsight, much appreciated.

Today, the grass is even green again.

A nice little adventure to get there, though.

It's been raining all day today.

It started yesterday evening, so technically it's been raining for 36 hours.

We started yesterday below average for rainfall this month and last I checked we have had 1 1/2 inches so far.

The rain is expected to continue until tomorrow morning.

Looking out of my front window, I can see the grass is turning from brown to green again.

It's a nice warm rain with no lightning, so I'll do something I rarely get to do any more.

I'm going for a walk.

Having an electric car sounds nice.

But

If you want me to buy one, build one that charges itself...

like a regular car battery does.

Just getting ready to sit down to dinner and the drunks across the street have started (early) screaming at one another.

Sometimes I want to hear the slower, bluesier version.


Not today.

We are in a slight drought here.

The grass is brown.

If I see one more careless smoker toss their finished butt in the grass,

I will bitch slap them like Will Smith at the Oscars.

Another Monday, another battle to go into work.

When I was a young man I didn't go in many times,

which is why my resume could be two or more pages long.

The closer I get to retirement, that is a struggle.

Target date is set, so unless I win some cash in the lottery, I'm going in.

Bummer!

It must be the Dog Days of summer.

The heat has gone, leaving temperatures in the low to mid 80s.

Everyone must have their summer tans by now...

no one is either sitting or lying out in the sun.

Too bad -

an old perv like me misses getting a cheap thrill as I drive about.

It was, without a doubt a great day to have an ice cold beer in the shade.
