Those of you who were is status last night know I got a call about a cousin who's not doing good at all.

Long story short he has a heart condition and has an internal defibrillator. Yesterday it went off on him and since he lives out in the country he called 911 and then headed to town.

The ambulance started out to meet him and found his car in the ditch and he had no pulse. It took 20 minutes of CPR to get a pulse back and then they airlifted him to a hospital in St. Louis. We don't know how long he was without a pulse which could factor into his recovery.

A CAT scan shows some brain damage but the docs aren't sure how severe it is. He's currently being kept sedated and cool, I assume it helps with the swelling in his brain, and on life support. This afternoon around four they are going to start warming him back up, an 8 hour process we are told, and then slowly withdrawing the sedatives, which will take several days they say.

So for now all we can do is wait and hope and pray. Thanks to all for their words of support and the prayers, positive thoughts, and good vibes sent his way.

Sometimes I think we all need reminded from time to time.

Many of you know about my wife's disability and her seemingly endless string of medical problems. One that I haven't mentioned much is the constant pain she lives with.

Not only is her underlying disability (Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3) extremely painful but she's got residual pain from multiple surgeries over the last ten years. We counted up ten surgeries she's had in that time span, sometimes two in one year.

She's been living on pain meds for the last five years and it's been a struggle. She's been addicted to several and I finally had to start locking up all but the current day's pills where she couldn't get to them to prevent her from taking more than prescribed and running out before the end of the month. When she took enough to reduce the pain to a bearable level she was pretty much a zombie, just laying around and not doing much.

Recently she was on oxycodone four times a day and dilaudid twice a day and was still in horrible pain. She'd built up a tolerance to the oxycodone and it had quit working for her. After discussing it with her doctor she switched her to the pain patch, hoping she'd get some relief.

It helped some but still wasn't totally controlling the pain. Tuesday the doctor doubled the strength of the patch and my wife and I were both hoping she'd get some relief from this.

Well she did. Tuesday at noon we put the first 25mcg patch on her. By nightfall she was pain free, and I do mean pain free. We were both astounded at the results and wondered if it was a fluke or the placebo effect. Cautiously optimistic we decided to give it a few days and see what happened.

Due to her high pain levels just living was hard for her prior to this. Sitting hurt (and she has to use a wheelchair to get around), laying hurt, anything hurt, even sex. Being the wonderful woman that she is she refused to allow the pain to hamper our sex life so she'd gotten in the habit of timing our sex with a dose of medicine, to make it easier on her. She could still enjoy sex, just not to the extent we both wanted her too.

In an effort to make things better for me (although she didn't tell me this until last night) she found a product that helped her overcome her gag reflex (Great Head) and learned to deepthroat me. In the process she learned she enjoyed doing this, which was a plus...for both of us. Also, giving me head didn't hurt her the way sex did.

So as the week rolled by and she was still pain free we began to get even more excited about the prospects for us as a couple. She was able to go shopping and not have to worry about hurting. We spent hours at the lake getting the camper ready and she wasn't reduced to tears by the pain. The only problem she had was sleeplessness. For some reason she couldn't sleep at night.

I did notice she was dozing off and on all day Thursday and decided yesterday to keep her up all day, no naps, to see if it would help her sleep last night. We went to bed late, which is normal for us, and by midnight she was fast asleep. Feeling some relief that she was sleeping I rolled over and went to sleep myself.

At about 4am I was woken by her this morning for a bout of intense sex that blew us both away. She'd woken up pain free and extremely horny. An hour later we were both exhausted, her by at least six orgasm (I wasn't really keeping a good count) and me by giving them to her. LOL

We feel back asleep and as of right now, about 20 till ten, she's still sleeping like a baby. Before we went back asleep I held her as she cried and told me that for the first time in years sex was totally pain free. She wanted to try some more but was to sore (from the sex not the PAIN).

I've got a cheshire grin as I type this and I can't wait to see what the coming days bring. If any of you have ever had a loved one that suffered debilitating pain and then suddenly become basically pain free, you'll understand why I'm so happy.

I just had to tell someone, and you all are it. LOL
