In the store the other day I heard someone complaining it was too cold. I figured they were a bit too warm blooded... or having a hot flash. Going for a walk yesterday, I overheard two ladies going the other way from me talking. One lady was wearing shorts and a sport top. The other was wearing long sweatpants and a sweatshirt. The lady with the long clothing on remarked on how everyone here must be used to the cold weather. The lady in shorts looked at me and grinned, knowing I had heard the remark. It was 80 degrees outside (26C). I can only ponder why the woman was cold. Low blood sugar? Was she from a hotter climate? Another of life's small mysteries. ~

I continue to see posts on Facebook that say we should be American. It seems these people don't like some Americans celebrating holidays of other cultures. Well, both sides of my family moved here from England and Ireland in the 1700s. On my mother's side of the family, her great whatever grandfather married a Native American and her own father was 1/4 Native American. Until the mid 20th Century, both sides of my family lived in the southern part of the United States. So... (inhales) that makes me English, Irish, Native, Appellation American. You can't get much more American that - and those people who don't like it can kiss my ass. ![]()

The same people who raise holy Hell about dogs being chained in a yard are probably the same people who leave their own dogs loose in their yards to bark all day long while they're at work. ~

I go for a walk every day, Monday through Friday. The most obvious thing I've seen is this: When you're walking towards traffic, vehicles will give you a wide berth when passing you. When traffic is at your back, vehicles come quite close to you when passing. It makes me pause to consider... it's much easier to stab a person in the back then when they're facing you. ~

79 years ago. Almost all are gone now. My mind cannot fathom landing on Omaha beach as an 18 year old kid, with heavy machine gun fire, mortars and artillery exploding all around. ~

Growing up I went swimming often. I was even a lifeguard for a couple of summers. Yesterday I took a walk in upper 80s sunshine for about 30 minutes. I was wearing an A shirt (what some call a tank top) and basketball shorts. When I got home, I was ready to hop in the shower to wash away my sweat. I peeled off my shirt and saw sunburn on my shoulders. From a 30 minute walk? Another sign of aging... you burn easier. Today I wore a regular tee and had a wet towel draped around my neck. I may be getting older, but I'm not stupid yet. ![]()
