It's sad when you lose another friend -

not through death, but through the indifference that time apart creates.

Once you were like brothers, or lovers and you swore it would last forever,

but time has a way of blurring relationships.

When you're younger and more passionate,

you swear things will never change between you.

As the old saying goes:

'Man plans and God laughs'.

Very few last to stay close.

Time, experience and life changes often erase those ties we once held.

I understand,

but still it hurts my heart.

Life goes on.

Your computer can be a great place to find old/lost friends.

There are websites that specialize in doing searches for people,

but a lot of them charge you for doing it for you.

I have found social media a good place to search for folks.

It's usually free and less time consuming.

I have found a lot of people I knew years ago on Facebook alone.

It can be a nice thing to find someone you haven't heard from for years.

Catching up with them can be wonderful.

You can also find out things about them from conversation and looking at their media posts you didn't want to know.

'Johnnie' might have been your best bud.

He might have had long hair, smoked dope and participated in all of those protests with you.

But today, he could be a flag waving, ultra conservative guy who calls you an idiot if you don't agree with him.

I have also found that older, divorced or widowed women, especially those who wouldn't give you the time of day in your younger years,

can be quite aggressive about hooking up with you.

Always try to see a photo of people, male or female.

A guy might have once been an Adonis, or a woman a goddess in their younger days,

but father time can be cruel to us all -

I myself have become half bald, have bags under my eyes, wrinkles and, even though I work out every day,

do not have the svelte body I had in my youth.

Be prepared for a bit of a shock at what you may see.

Understand something -

one of the main reasons people turn bitter about life is what time has done to them.

A cynic is most times a romantic whose ideals have been crushed.

So if you're looking for that old buddy or lost love,

remember the old saying:

Be careful what you wish for...

you just might get it.

A nice Saturday:

1. Down one run with two out, an easy fly ball that should have ended the game is dropped.

The next batter hits a two run home run to win.

2. Down 14 points in the second half,

San Diego State hits a jump shot as time expires to win and go on to the championship game Monday.

3. I win $20.00 on a lottery scratchoff.
