The NFL season has started. With all of the games shown around here, I watched maybe one half of a quarter. Mainly I was just checking scores.

If the NFL wants me to watch, they should put on better games. And I would watch more... if they paid me.

One of the reasons I'm on Facebook is to talk to family and friends who are scattered all over the country. I have a cousin who lives in Alabama and I haven't seen her since my father died in '94. We message each other frequently. Some thing I've learned about her:

She is 51 years old
She has never been married. (she was engaged once, but he turned out to be a confessed pedofile).
She is a virgin.
She is religious.
She is naive to my sense of humor, so it's frustrating sometimes to have to explain my jokes.

Can't and won't seem to be her main go to words whenever I talk about things she's never done before. For about the last week, we have been talking about Reuben sandwiches. She's never tried one and won't, because it has sauerkraut on it. She claims the smell of sauerkraut makes her ill. So today, she sent me a picture of what she called a reuben sandwich... minus the sauerkraut. I didn't tell her that without the 'kraut, it's just a corned beef sandwich. I suggested that next time, just put a spoonful of 'kraut on it. Along came the can't word.

Finally I told her to forget it, admit that she's a wimp and to just move on.

I can hardly wait to hear her whining reply.

As always, life goes on.

And lived to tell ya about it.

It's finally been cool enough in the mornings lately that I can take my morning coffee outside to drink without breaking into a sweat.

Another thing to enjoy as fall rapidly approaches.

I've bought two pair of shorts, a light fall jacket and a space heater in the last week.

It used to be booze while online would spur these sprees. Now it's just finding a great price.

Maybe I'm getting in touch with my feminine side?

Well. Thanks to Labor Day, I had three days off from my job.

I ate anything I wanted: Cheeseburgers, pizza, donuts, potato chips and chocolate.

Now I'm going back to work and I can hardly wait to step on the loading dock scale and see how much weight I've gained.

So. It's back to eating healthy and working out to lose the pounds.

If not for a regular routine, I'd probably be about 300 lbs. by now.

And I'm eating an apple as I write this.

See? Commitment.

Labor Day. A time to reflect and to celebrate the workers who have made this country and who keep it going daily. A lot of people today put down the unions.

Ponder this:

Unions got everyone the 8 hour workday. Overtime. The 5 day work week.

I worked for a union many years ago when I worked for GM. The work was hard and dirty, but the compensation was superb.

Here's to everyone today, not just union workers, but everyone who toils for their paycheck.

Last week I had a sinus infection. It was bad enough that my teeth on one side were extremely sensitive to hot or cold. I took sinus medication, which helped a little. Finally, I searched all the med sites I could find on the internet.

One (the Mayo clinic) suggested decongestants. Made sense. They even suggested Nyquill with Vics in it. I tried it and slept like a log. When I woke up, my head and teeth felt great. I took some sinus medication in the morning the next two days and it was finally gone. Everything back to normal.

Sometimes the internet can be a pain in itself with too much information. Sometimes it can be a Godsend.

Going to drink some hot tea now.
