Last night I dreamed I was house sitting a mansion.

I had no idea who owned the mansion. I was asked to watch the place for a friend who couldn't be there, kind of subcontracting.

I got a phone call from the guard shack at the front gate, telling me the owner was coming.

A little nervous. I knew whoever owned the house was obviously rich and, or, famous.

Finally, I see a Porsche flying up the gravel drive.

It slides sideways to a stop by the front door.

Getting out of the car was Kate Beckinsale.

As I stood there stunned, she laughed at my expression

and thanked me for 'watching the place' while she was gone.

She gave me a peck on the cheek and asked me if I would stay for dinner.

Yes, I then woke up...

but with a HUGE smile upon my face.

While a lot of people are having a cookout (or grilling, or BBQ, depending on what part of the country you're in), I'm having a

'cook in':

Potatoes in an air fryer and

burgers in a George Foreman grill.

And, of course, watching baseball.

A lazy day for the last lazy days of summer.

Some people are complaining around here about the weather.

It's 76 degrees and cloudy, with the threat of rain.

To those people I say -

Go to California,

where the temperature is hovering in the 100 + degrees.

Be thankful for what you don't have right now.

I couldn't watch the game on t.v. today, so settled on the computer.

And now it has stopped.

I tried calling customer support (gave up after waiting 15 minutes).

I tried to text but they said that function wasn't working.

I sent an email for the sixth day in a row, but all that does is get a reply that they've received it.

I'm counting to ten now....

I was thinking about having a little rant today about MLB TV.

My connection to MLBTV has been out for the last 4 days, which means I couldn't watch the last 2 or 3 innings of the Red Sox games on my t.v.

Also, customer service has only deigned to send me a form email that says they have received my complaint(s) and will look into the matter.

I have been able to watch on my computer, but it's not the same as kicking back to view in my recliner.

I'm saving my anger in case the problem is not fixed by Saturday, since I have 3 days off and want to be able to watch every pitch and play.

As my parents were fond of saying to me as a kid whenever I asked for something bigger than usual:

We'll see.

When so many are insecure about size, why draw attention to them?

It's like if a man with a small penis wore a speedo.

Flattering?

Or a who gives a damn mentality?

... about being older.

Growing up, we would still have a week to go before school started - AFTER labor day.

I find it hard to fathom starting school on the first of August, then having to prepare for government sanctioned testing over stuff we forgot over the summer.

Must be confusing and boring for kids today.
