Friday, October 6, 2006, 12:12:56 AM- Hectic but Laughing
Rather interesting...I found out I had a bit of a fan today. I guess that's kind of neat in a way. I never really thought about anyone following my meanderings (other than my friends). Someone once told me that I should publish some of my poetry but other than that I never thought my ramblings would peak someone's interest enough to have them become a fan.

At any rate, it's been a hectic week or two. Last week my son got hit in the eye by a kickball at school. You wouldn't think a kickball could do that much damage but this one did. His eye bled and his retina bruised and much of last week was spent taking trips to the doctors by myself and his dad. This week I took him again and he's 98% better but still on drops and being monitored. He'll go back in a month so the doctor can make sure everything is still going back to normal.

With the trips to the doctor's I've had to work crazy hours to try to make up my time. Luckily I'm fortunate to have a job where I can do that and I don't have to lose pay.

Besides that, my son's birthday is coming up and he's planning a big get together with his friends next week so Wolf and I have been cleaning house. We bombed the house to get rid of any fleas that were hanging around, we moved furniture, rewired our home network, put up new curtains and winter bedding, washed walls and floors and got most of it done. We still have the living room, kitchen and pantry to finish. Wolf's still all excited about drilling a hole in a wall and using a spike to complete it. Turns out that the wall leading into my son's room used to be an outside wall so we not only had to get through the wall in the stairs, we had to get through siding, insulation, paneling..etc..,

We'll finish this weekend so he'll be all set for his get together. He's planning a night of xbox and pc games with a break for a movie and food. Wolf and I trying to convince him to watch Blazing Saddles..."someone's going to have to go back and get a shitload of dimes!" Besides that, there's always Airheads...or Airplane...or SouthPark...or...

thinking she needs a bad movie night...

Tuesday, September 26, 2006, 10:41:45 PM- a little history
For those of you who don't know, Wolf and I met on NN. We met in the chat room and just clicked. We became very good friends and had been chatting in here and on IM for about 5 months or so when I went on a cross country trip with my son. He offered to put us up at a hotel and show us around when we got to Texas. He was the consumate southern gentleman and we had great fun seeing everything. In turn, I extended an open door to him if he wanted to see New England.
He ended up coming up about 2 or 3 months after that and showed up right about the time my previous marraige was hitting rock bottom. Despite having 15 years of ups and downs my wasband and I had reached the end of our journey as a married couple. Wolf came for his visit and got to see a few sites and listen to me sort things out.
In December of last year he offered to come up here and help out. He knew I was having a tough time financially and physically, trying to do everything here on my own. At the same time, he was somewhat stuck in a rut back home and wanted a fresh start.
Out of that friendship that we had forged, love grew. We weathered some tough times here while I was in the process of my divorce ... financial tightness, some emotional ups and downs for me, getting used to each other's habits and food likes...those types of things. But, he was always my friend..and always my son's friend ... and always a quiet and happy source in the background. He became a rock for me and when he asked me to marry him after talking to my son I knew I couldn't imagine him not here.
So, here we are today. We managed to find that elusive mix of friendship, passion and true love. I just hope and pray that everyone else I know can touch something like this. Call me odd, but I'm looking forward to the day that I can welcome my wasband's new love into our circle. I know that I wasn't enough to fill his well but I'd love to see him happy.

Maybe it's just part of being happy yourself... you wish the same for others, especially those with whom you've been close.

well, I'm done with the deep thoughts for now....I just want to sit back and have a beer while the chicken cooks...

love ya all,

Tuesday, September 26, 2006, 12:14:08 AM- OK, OK....I'll blog already....
Wolf has been sitting over my shoulder for the past two days telling me...blog...blog!!! You would think he was excited or something.

His big news? It seems he's managed to get his hat back one way or another. If he couldn't steal it I guess he figured he'd make it community property and just marry me.

Yep, Friday we tied the knot in a very quiet and beautiful ceremony in my old home town. We had our two witnesses, who are some very close friends of ours and my mother and cousin.

My son thought as long as I was happy that's all that mattered but he didn't want to be bothered with the rituals. That would've cut into xbox time.

We managed to escape for a "mini-moon" overnight at Cape Cod and then spent a leisurely Saturday driving back.

And now....I have to listen to Wolf running around the house saying "mine, mine, mine.....eat your heart out fellow NNer's." Oh, and VB...he says even Kathy Ireland won't do now.

...hmmm, can I still use kitten or do I have to use wolf somewhere in my name now?

confused but content,
kitt or is it kittwolf?

Monday, September 18, 2006, 10:57:18 PM- She's either a sick bitch or wicked cool....
Right now about a dozen kids on xbox live are determining my fate....I'm either a sick bitch or a wicked cool mom.

I decided to make a cup of tea so I got my nasty tea cup, filled it with water and a tea bag and threw it in the microwave. Along with the cup of tea, unbeknownst to me, a fly had wandered in. I spotted it as soon as I hit the 2 minute button.

"Wow, I'm nuking a fly", I yell out to my son.

Of course he runs over to take a peek. I expected it to blow up or something but the 2 minutes went by and the fly was still struggling at the door. Not one to let a good experiment go, I hit the clear button and 2 minutes again. Believe it or not the sucker was still alive. The tea was bubbling over but that fly was still struggling.

As I neared the 2 minute mark I hit the add 30 seconds button....and again....and again...

By now, the fly was hiding under the glass plate...I donned a hot mitt and pulled the tea out (which now looks like coffee and is probably undrinkable for the next 2 hours). The fly was still hiding so I let the microwave continue. I finally stopped it at 6 and a half minutes. The fly was now crushed by the wheel under the plate.... so I never did get to find out if it would blow up.

At any rate, 6.5 minutes seems to be the optimum fly nuking time. In case you ever wondered.

I'm pretty sure I'm the coolest mom alive on xbox right now.

Thursday, September 14, 2006, 10:45:03 PM- Things to ponder
Do not grab a burning stick with your bare hand.....it is not conducive to keeping your skin.

Fires do not light well in the rain but they burn like a bugger when you have a ton of brush from a fallen apple tree.

Always keep aloe available...you never know when you might need some.

A ton of work makes the day go by more quickly.

Birthdays in Vegas should be celebrated with much relish and without daddy pants. Actually, without pants at all would probably be best.

One should always trust one's instinct and stop to get beer on the way home.

Wolf is indeed the luckiest man alive. smile

Saturday, September 9, 2006, 4:47:24 PM- those questions
LOL, I had to go check out guitartxn's blog with the questions after reading Juicy's blog. Luckily my mind is elsewhere today and the revelations didn't register so I answered as honestly as I could. Some of them are kind of funny now that I look back at what they were supposed to reveal.

ok, my first answer
Horse...powerful, free, regal
supposedly what others think of me. Wow, thanks smile

Green.. natural, peaceful, growing
what I think of myself...I can live with that

Ocean.. vast, majestic, soothing
what I think about sex? That's interesting.

Blinding, ouch, stark
What I think of death. Well, I don't really think of death as an end so I'm not sure what to make of this. Actually all I kept thinking was, gee, this place needs some color..green would be nice..I wonder what that says about me?

LOL

Saturday, September 9, 2006, 4:31:28 PM- Happy birthday to the littlest lunna and the big old wolf
Yesterday was the oldwolf's birthday. And, as it turns out, Lunna's niece's!
I took the wolf out and treated him to a fantastic dinner at a local steak/mexican restaurant. I think I'm in trouble though because I got the waitstaff to bring him a slice of frozen mudslide pie and sing happy birthday at the end of the meal. Oooooh the look I got! He did enjoy the pie though. For my part, I will say it doesn't mix well with Margarita. Now that was an interesting taste combination.
In addition, he got a new pair of boots. If you come from Texas you'll understand how excited he was about that.
Today he's out at a fishing tournament so I'm sure he's enjoying his day. It's a beauty too. One of those rare days we get in New England where the sky is perfectly blue, the temp is about 80 and there's little humidity. I'd be laying out in it but my son is coming in early this weekend so his dad can go out tonight. I figured I would take the time and do something constructive like the ever present cleaning that never goes away. So, I'll wash the floors, do the laundry and whatever else comes to mind. I've been eyeing some material I have stashed and my mind is planning a new quilt so maybe that'll get started today. It's the start of fall too so I'm also getting an urge to redecorate...move furniture, put stuff in storage, take other stuff out, that sort of stuff. We'll see...the day's wide open...

Enjoy your day

Saturday, September 2, 2006, 11:54:02 AM- The updates are few and far between but....
it's been busy! The other week I painted one of the outbuildings and Wolf's been busy cutting up a tree that fell and chasing the pigs who discovered that if you back into the electric fence it only hurts a little and you can get out and ruin the neighbor's sweet corn crop. Needless to say we weren't very happy with them and they've been locked up in a barn since. Good thing it's almost freezer time.

My son started school this week and all's going well there. The boy grows like a weed though and I think new pants will be in order shortly. I can't believe these were purchased just before school ended and they're already starting to get short. He takes after his dad in the height department that's for sure.

Things are going well with wasband and me. We seem to have gotten to a fairly comfortable friendly relationship. I even surprised him this week by signing all the papers to refinance the house. He had given me ample time to refinance to absolve him of any financial obligation on the loan and to split the original equity with him and I think he figured I'd wait a while. We had gotten an amazing rate when we first signed our loan but as I've been watching the housing market and the interest rates I thought it best to move on the refinancing while the getting was good. My rate did go up but not ridiculously and I was able to get appraised at a level which made sure the bank wouldn't charge PMI (private mortgage insurance). I paid off my car and my visa bill at the same time so the extra I have to pay on the mortgage will really only amount to about $100 extra when you take those payments into account. Plus this way, my interest paid is tax deductible and in my opinion, my government already gets enough of my money.

Wolf and I finally got out to Boston the other week. I figured we needed a break from working so we left early and took the train into town. It was a beautiful day and we had a blast walking all over. We saw Chinatown, Fanuiel Hall, Quincy Market, the South Church, the Skywalk at the Prudential etc.., A lot of things have changed since I used to go there but a lot stays the same. We missed our original train out and ended up having to stay another 2 hours but we entertained ourselves with a trip to the Copley mall for chocolate covered strawberries and truffles then some people watching at the train station. We didn't get home until almost midnight but it was well worth the trip.

Well, chores are calling so I'm off again for a while. Hope everyone is having a great season where ever you are.

Friday, July 21, 2006, 10:27:56 PM- So what's going on?
We have a huge garden and the weeds are always ahead of us but we still have bushels of green beans and the tomatoes (maters for you rednecks) are just starting to ripen. The first cucumber has made an appearance. We had a wicked storm the other night and the apple tree finally gave up the ghost. Of course that means we have a lot of cleaning up to do.
The goats, chickens and what not are doing well. The pigs are fattening up for the freezer.
I've managed to find a cousin that was missing in action and we got to meet up. He just happened to be coming this way the week I found him. Serendipity.
With all the activities and the work round here we've been kept pretty busy.
It's not that I haven't thought about y'all ... I've just been busy as all get out. My job is going well, my divorce is final, it's finally warm enough for my liking....can't complain.
I hope everyone is having as good a time as me. smile
