Sunday, November 12, 2006, 2:32:53 AM- Haute Couture for.....someone I guess
OK, so after a busy day working in the morning and then cutting wood and building a rock crossing over my creek, we live the exciting life here and decide to look at some of the fashion slide shows for 2007.
The House of Dior has truly outdone themselves. Absolutely magnificent. Kind of like the Jolly Green Giant meets Mech Wars and the French Revolution or something like that...
You be the judge. And hold your breath for that last pic...it's the piece de resistance!

I want one of those arm thingies....put my boots on and go.

well, ummm, blow my horn and plant me.

ahhh...ummm....I'm not sure whether to pull her up and toss her in the salad or just bury her and try to forget what I just saw.

I'm not sure about you but I'm seriously wondering what these guys are on...and can I get some? It had to be good stuff.

LMAO

Friday, November 10, 2006, 2:12:27 AM- What happened to my weekend?
Someone fast forward to a day off.

It's been busy as all get out for both both me and Wolf. Our jobs are hopping and we've been going all out at home too. I was looking forward to the weekend but he's working Saturday, I may be working as well and Sunday we take the piggies to the "processing" facility. Looks like a busy weekend too.

Ah well, winter's coming. That'll slow us down.

tired but doing ok

Saturday, November 4, 2006, 3:56:30 PM- Seasons
Today we put down our horse...he was very old...over 30, which is ancient for a horse. It wasn't an easy decision but we felt that another hard winter would've been cruel for him. Last winter was tough for him, he lost a lot of weight and never put it back on, his hips were very bad and walking was painful, he caught a terrible cold and had a hard time just breathing.

We finally found a gentleman willing to come out with his backhoe to bury him so today Wolf and I gave the horse an apple, a carrot and some hay & grain, walked him over to a special spot and then Wolf put him down. The backhoe came after that and took care of the rest.

So...Unlikely...run like you were when you were a colt, kick up those heels and cavort with glee.

For our horse:
TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON, AND A TIME TO EVERY PURPOSE UNDER HEAVEN
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”

Wednesday, October 25, 2006, 10:05:09 PM- as promised...the hay call
So, I said I would save this for another blog. For the sake of protecting the not so innocent we'll call the hay guy Joe and the other party Bob.

For a little background, Joe owns the farm and Bob, his son in law, worked with him but on his own as well.

I called Joe's house first and got his wife. I tell her I need some hay and she says she's not sure if Joe has any to sell because it's been a tight year and he didn't harvest a lot of it. So I ask her if Bob might have some hay to sell. She says, in a real nasty tone, "The only thing Bob is selling these days is himself!" "He hasn't worked since February because he's too busy making babies with his girl friend and he doesn't have time to work here or be bothered with anything else besides screwing around"

I'm thinking ... oooohkay.... probably a touchy area...shouldn't have gone there.

She's still going on about Bob's indiscretions and shortcomings when she takes a breath and I say in a somewhat joking tone...trying to extricate myself here..."so it probably wouldn't be a good idea to call HIM"

"OH NO"..she retorts, "we're not allowed to give out his number because his girlfriend might not LIKE that."

At this point I'm thinking....this was really a bad idea...so I ask her if she can recommend anyone and then she seems to calm a bit and tells me that she'll give me Joe's cell number and I can call him and check with him and he'll get back to me. Phew...I thank her very much...call Joe and he gets back to me to negotiate the hay deal.

Needless to say...I wasn't expecting to call the update hotline for "As The Hay Bales" but it was a rather interesting diversion to the day. I guess I can cross Bob's number off of my hay suppliers as well.

thankful she's getting any hay at all

Tuesday, October 24, 2006, 10:57:17 PM- Hormones suck, etc..,
So yesterday, of course Monday, was not a stellar day for me. It started with waking up later than normal, trying to get my son ready for school and finding out all his pants had massive rips in the knees, ironing on a patch so he wouldn't be hanging out, trying to get a roast started in a crock pot...ad infinitum. Work has been busy as all get out so I was balls out all day and didn't get some phone calls done then I come home and I'm all emotional.

Poor Wolf...he has to deal with me all weepy and telling him he doesn't understand...yada yada. Good thing he's a patient man and has no problem dealing with my basket case scenarios.

So today I woke up to a day in which I was a little on edge...waiting for the next disaster. It didn't occur and I sailed through another busy day at work, apparently everyone needs cables TODAY! However, I also managed to call the hay guy, what experience that was...we'll save that for another blog...catch up on follow up calls for quotes on laser velocimeters and get out in time for my evening appointment with my financial advisor.

I was the adult today and straightened out my IRA's, moved some mutual funds to a brokerage account, and invested some of the proceeds from my refinancing. Hopefully all the strategies will work out and I will manage some modest growth on those funds without completely tying them up. I have a real issue with money because of past experiences and I'm terrified of being at a point where I have nothing to fall back on. I'm a wicked cheap bitch and I usually watch where just about every penny goes. I'm sure there's a few folks I know who can relate to my emotional state when it comes to monetary matters.

Thankfully, prior to our marraige, Wolf and I discussed these things and the money is pretty much in my hands when it comes to us. We have a few things left to straighten out but it will all work out in the end. In the meantime, my individual assets are managed, my son's trust & college fund is still in effect and I feel better about that. I left quite a bit up in the air during the divorce, knowing full well that my wasband wouldn't touch any of my accounts...he's not like that. My financial advisor knew about everything going on and respected my wishes to hold tight until I was ready.

The hormones, on the other hand, have seemed to level off and I'm pretty much back to normal. Thank God for that. Phew.

off to stratigize

Wednesday, October 18, 2006, 1:05:17 AM- Recovery...and omg what have I done
Well, the party was a great success. I crawled into bed about 6am with only my son and his best friend left awake and they were fading fast. I cat-napped for 2 hours and then started getting ready for the pick-ups. Needless to say I was tired the rest of the day and even my son crashed early that night. I managed to grab about 2 more hours nap time mid afternoon. I can honestly say I slept very well the following evening.

I do have to apologize to a friend of mine though. I hope she doesn't think I was ignoring her that night but I was really split in half. I had half of me trying to monitor the boys while I was trying to talk to her. I don't think I was giving her the impression that she had my undivided attention. I'm just hoping she knows how hard it is when the kids are having a wake-over and that she also knows I care very much about her. I think she does but I haven't had a chance to talk to her since then. (shhh...don't tell anyone I have a soft side)

Now that we're back to normal I decided to encourage Wolf to trace his family tree. I did mine a few years ago and managed to trace it all the way back to France in the 1600's on both sides. Unfortunately, it can very addictive and I think I may have created a monster. I've a feeling I'll be fighting for the computer some nights. He's lucky though...he's already got some folks with some good information and we also found some other people on line who are researching similar lines. I had none of that. Mine was all done in person at different locations. It was great fun though and I've managed to reconnect with several relatives I haven't seen in ages and I've gotten to meet some I never knew I had.

Well I'm off for the night...gotta watch the Unit smile

Friday, October 13, 2006, 10:41:31 PM- ARGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! THEY'RE HERE!!!!!!
OMG...my house is overrun...there's 4 or 5 13 and 14 year old boys right now with at least 4 or 5 more on the way. A new wire has been run to the router...there's 5 frozen pizzas waiting, 6 bags of Doritos, 2 bags of Tortilla Chips, a mondo container of chocolate chip cookies, 3 boxes of Cheeze It's (ok, 4, I hid one-get your own box), 1 huge bag of potato chips, a 90 piece bag of pizza bites, 12 bottles of Coke, Sprite and Ginger Ale (that's for me to chase down the tylenol)and a peck of apples (hey, I had to TRY to get something healthy in there). Wolf couldn't find any hyper caffienated chocolate covered coffee beans...gee what a shame. Like they need that.
There's 4 or 5 TV's, xbox's and a couple of pc's all wired together. It's sheer chaos...but great. So, so much for sleeping tonight...I've a feeling we'll be up most of the evening and morning. They usually start crashing about 4 or 5AM.
So open invite...grab your xbox or pc and c'mon over...LAN party tonight at the kitt and wolf lair.

brewing coffee...

Thursday, October 12, 2006, 10:20:49 PM- oh, and there was the computer thing....
So, it seems the whole 360 issue was straightened out and my son is now happily playing away at some game and chatting with his friends. He's a happy camper.
Now, about two weeks ago, Wolf and I started the "fall cleaning". He didn't complain a bit when I made him start moving furniture around, drilling holes in walls, etc.., What a good wolf. At any rate, I moved my pc back to the master bedroom where there's a ton more room than where I "thought" it would be best situated. Of course, back then, my wasband was trying to sleep in here and I was clacking away at the keyboard keeping him awake. Now that I work all day I can't get away with all night sessions on the pc.
Prior to moving the PC I was having problems with the USB ports. Sometimes they would work, sometimes not...much to my chagrin if you can remember the USB eggy. Well, I'd had it and finally contacted Dell. They decided to send a tech out to change the motherboard. The day before he showed up, the PC decided the blue screen of death was the way to go. I figured why call when he'd be there soon. Well, he changed the board but the blue screen remained.
After what seemed forever that evening, I ended up having to reformat the system. Back to original factory settings and the loss of everything on my hard drive. We're fully functional again...after having a drive issue with the CD and DVD but fixing that. Which, by the way, Dell was of very little help with. Good wolf...he can read and make conclusions. No wonder I'm so proud of him.
I now have a tidy collection of service tag numbers in case I ever decide to call tech support again. And, I was promptly reminded why I no longer am in tech support myself. By choice!
Here's to the electronic age...isn't your life better and easier?

chuckling,

Thursday, October 12, 2006, 12:17:15 AM- 360 has arrived
Well, it's my son's birthday today so his father and I bought him an XBox 360. He doesn't ask for very much and actually didn't even ask for this. He's been trying to save the money to buy one himself. We decided his efforts and the fact that he's a good kid should be rewarded and what better day to do that.
Needless to say he's thrilled. In addition, his dad got him a gift certificate for Game Stop so he NEEDED to go there tonight and get a game.
In the meantime, I get to sit on the phone for a half hour or more trying to change the billing information on his live account. Holy crap. Who knew that getting Microsoft to change a last name would be such a hassle. You would think they would jump at the chance to make sure they get paid. So far I've talked to technical support, been on hold listening to a variety of middle eastern music, disconnected, on hold again, with some department of which I've no clue what they did besides put me on hold again and finally the billing agent. Oh well, at least the account will be paid and I got to hear that slamming music.
