On the way home from work, I noticed the license plate on the vehicle in front of me read "NN 8041". Made me wonder....

Tuesday, May 17, 2011, 10:56:18 AM- Warning, Will Robinson! Danger! Danger!
My friends, I feel that it is my responsibility to make a public service announcement at this time. There are many many things in your immediate area that have evil intentions and may pose a threat to your well-being. Thanks to Herbie for helping me see the light. Over the course of less than a week, I've discovered the plethora of dangerous items that may be on your person or in your home. BEWARE! These things MUST be attacked and attacked often. Here are some of the top hazards:

*blankets
*pens
*shadows
*remote controls
*popcorn
*rubber bands
*curtains
*keyboards
*pillows
*hair
*shoes
*power cords
*noses
*ice cubes
*lint
*cotton balls
*invisible stuff

The list is endless, or so it seems. smile

My goodness, what a busy boy Herbie is. He's been attacking everything in sight for several hours now. He likes riding around on our shoulders and backs. Too bad Pooh wasn't wearing a shirt a minute ago when the kitten decided to jump on his back. Oops.

The lil guy is a complete pig and eats everything in sight. When my daughter gets a snack, she has to stand in the middle of the room or she's got a kitten on her plate. He's already tried to steal bites of taco meat (which we didn't think was such a great idea) and pork chop.

After 3 hours of constant play this morning, he just passed out which is the ONLY reason I'm able to type this. He's facinated with the laptops and the sound of the keyboard. We're having a blast watching his antics. smile))

We brought home our new kitten tonight. He was a rescue and is about 9 weeks old. Half siamese from the look of him. No name has been chosen yet. My son suggested Sir Fluffington. My daughter suggested Nub. Once he's settled in and we get to know him a bit more, we'll figure something out. smile

Our Lab mix is terrified of him cuz he's little. The Golden licked his face one time and practically drown the wee lil thing. Spike is not amused at having another feline in the house and is giving me the cold shoulder. Oh well. They'll come around soon enough.

Poohbare's son seems to be on the mend. Thank you for the many well-wishes both here and in PMs. They are greatly appreciated.

The girlspawn and I leave for her last band concert in about a half hour. I'm very hopeful she will want to take a sledge hammer to her trumpet over the weekend. After going through two kids playing trumpet for three years each, I've about had enough of that damn thing to last a lifetime. tongue

Work has been extraordinarily busy; we have five one-week trials coming up over the next eight weeks and several more bigguns between July and September. I've finally found my stride and keep being handed more responsibility. It feels pretty good to meet the daily challenges.

xoxo

Poohbare's son had an emergency appendectomy the other day. It's still pretty touch-and-go for now, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Now we just wait for the morning lab results before deciding on whether we worry more or relax our guard a bit.

On a brighter note, tomorrow night is my daughter's last band concert. Ever. EVER! 8:00 p.m. (when the concert ends) cannot arrive soon enough!

Wow! What a busy weekend, but it sure feels good to look around with a sense of satisfaction.

Saturday I cleared out the shed in the backyard. We had two carloads of trash for the dumpster and another carload for the charity bin. While I worked on that, Pooh repaired the threshold where water damage had rotted the wood. The whole floor will need to be replaced and he'll probably do that when he's home for a week next month. When we got done, Mom thanked Pooh for doing the clean up. I've been having fun teasing him all weekend about all the work HE did. tongue

Sunday Poohbare worked on ebay while my daughter and I disassembled an ancient console tv with a mallet. Bashing stuff is always fun. Next came the hard drive from an old computer. She enjoyed playing "bomb squad" while cutting the bazillion wires in both the tv and computer and then destroying the hard drive with a hammer in the driveway. After taking showers, it was off to get a bite to eat.

While we were gone, a friend in the UK called. Mom, who has very selective deafness took a message. This morning, I wake up and find the following (edited) email:

wot i dont speak english?
i had to repeat myself 4times to your Mum
'is ****** home' times 4...then...
'can you tell her ****** rang? *-*-*-*-*-*......no ******! ...
maybe i should use a mexican ACCENT?

I'm still giggling.

Our search for a kitten continues. Most are still too young for adoption at this time and I've had enough pets to understand the kitten needs to pick us; not the other way around. I know what characteristics the little fella needs to have to mesh well with our current pets. We briefly considered adopting an older cat, but with two dogs and a 12 year old cat already in the house, I think a younger one will adapt better. Besides, Poohbare has never experienced the fun of a kitten. I'm looking forward to seeing him laugh at the antics.

So.... every day I prowl through the local shelter sites and the classifieds. A phrase that makes me snicker is "free kittens for sale." Well? Which is it? Free or for sale?

I even did a fruitless ebay search. They gave me category options to check, so for fun I did. Condition: New. Location: US only. I gave up when I got to the return and delivery options though. lol

Until "kitten season" gets underway, I impatiently wait to meet my new lil baby.
