Wow what a week! We managed to get the shed floor replaced. That's one well built structure and heavy as hell. While Pooh got it raised and the old rotted floor cut out and removed, I cut the new boards to size, tried not to get in his way, and got grossed out by bugs. I must say we do pretty well working on projects together. He got the new floor down and the first few screws set in place then I finished securing the floor while he worked on putting fascia on the exposed outer edges of the floor. We put down waterproofing stuff this morning and Pooh finished caulking. We really don't want to replace the floor again. Ever.

Typing this out, it sounds like such a simple task, but it took the better part of 3 days. It's been pretty hot and we had to take it slow with many breaks. We're old people, ya know.

Once the sealant has had a chance to dry real well and before we load all the miscellany back in, my daughter plans to have some friends over to "camp out". lol Yeah, that's roughing it, all right.

Next weekend we'll move some of the bulky stuff that's in the garage over to the shed. It will be nice to have room to move in the garage without running into a table saw, band saw, router table, etc. We haven't been able to do that sooner due to the riding mower taking up most of the shed space, but I listed that for sale this afternoon and someone is stopping by this evening to possibly buy it. Talk about timing! If we get what we're asking, it'll cover the remainder of the landscape work that needs to be done.

Overall, things to be falling into place rather nicely.

Seems even tho the hospital has wifi, it also has a block where ya can't access sites such as this one. Huh. Who knew?

Back home now and feeling surprisingly good. Everything went smoothly and today there's barely any discomfort. The worst is my left inner thigh muscle. I think they had my leg hooked over my head or something. EEEK! lol

I'm to be at the hospital at 5:15 Saturday morning. Overall, I'm comfortable with both the procedure and my surgeon. All the testing has been done except the stress test my general practitioner wanted (because of my age grrrr!) but he said if I promised to have no complications, it could wait. I promised.

Still.... I work in the field of medical malpractice defense. I'm not unaware that any procedure carries its risks. That, and that alone, starts to create chinks in my armor. The cracks and fissures become more apparent. I worry about the kids. I worry about Mom. I worry about Pooh. He stays strong for me but I know he is worried as well.

So.... I keep busy. I stock up on supplies that we don't need; clean things that are clean; organize things that are organized. I putter. I distract. I stay busy. I put to rights a house that is already put to rights. I find my eyes darting constantly looking for things that need done; analyzing ; wondering what I've missed; making lists of things to do this morning and this evening. I cook. I bake. I fill the freezer, fridge, and shelves. I straighten up the linen closet. I check the car's fluid levels. I work on the landscaping. You know... just in case. The one thing I don't do is sleep much or well.

The cats are my constant companions. Spike, because he's very in tune with my emotions. I expect he'll be next to me during the majority of my recovery, checking on me regularly. He'll rest his nose against my forehead for a few moments then look at me intently. When he's satisfied, he'll lie back down, but ever-watchful. He's been that way every time one of us has gotten sick - ever since he was a kitten. He's such a good boy. Herbie follows me around like a shadow, more curious than any cat I've ever encountered. He protects me from lint. He fights hair clips. He makes sure shelves and cabinets are safe by venturing in and inspecting them. He "helps" make the bed and dust and sweep and mop. He supervises kitchen work. Nothing escapes his clutches and lives to tell the tale. He makes me stop and watch and laugh. He breaks the tension. He's my comic relief.

I know everything will be fine. I just needed to get this out of my system. Maybe now that I have, I can take a nap.

I woke to the sound of crashing thunder and pouring rain. Yay! I've turned off the lights and opened the curtains to watch the show. I love thunderstorms. ))

To renew or not to renew, that is the question.

We no longer post pics, so comment manager and photo manager are moot. We don't watch vids or look at pics, so that's moot. With a certain someone gone, I no longer get a bazillion PMs a day, so that's moot. The only reason I can think of to renew is the ability to edit my blog, which I can do in a roundabout way.

Guess I answered my own question.
