Friday, December 9, 2005, 3:14:04 AM- It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas
Ooh, I love how it smells in our house right now. We got four fresh-cut balsam wreaths today (yep, FOUR of them) and hung them on various walls in the house. We have an artificial tree and needed something to give us that old familiar Christmas smell I miss so much. I guess one wreath would've been enough, but four of them make it smell heavenly in here. I like to go outside just so I can come back in and smell it!

Hope it lasts through the month. smile

Friday, December 2, 2005, 11:57:25 PM- Some oldies but (hopefully) goodies
Just re-posted a few older pics of mine, one by request from an NN member and two by request from D.smile

The Red Fishnets series was the last of the “series” of pics we took during that October photo session, and D and I won’t have time before Christmas for another long session. But there are still lots of decent pics from the seven series that we didn’t post, so that’s probably what I’ll be posting for a while.

Enjoy your weekend! xox

Wednesday, November 23, 2005, 12:53:17 AM- I'm not that brave
A lot of the messages I've gotten since posting new pics last night ask the same two questions, so I thought I should answer them here and then maybe no one else will have to ask.

QUESTION: Do you actually wear that bikini top to the beach?
ANSWER: Hell, no, I'm not that brave! Wearing that little thing would practically be like going topless. I'd be afraid of attracting too much unwanted attention, and besides going topless is illegal on nearly all California beaches.

QUESTION: What beach do you go to?
ANSWER: None anymore. Although I grew up by the beach and went all the time when I was young, I no longer enjoy it like I did. There's just something about getting sand in your private parts, salt water drying on your skin and in your hair, and that unrelenting sun beating down on your bod all day that I don't like. Call me kooky.*lol*

BTW thanks to all of you who commented on the pics - always much appreciated! - and who sent me messages. I'm not even close yet to answering them all, but I hope to finish by tomorrow.

Have a good night. xox

Saturday, October 22, 2005, 7:47:45 PM- We did it!
D and I finally had another honest-to-goodness, all-day-long, replenish-the-pic-stockpile photo session on Thursday. It was very productive and successful - we took over 1,100 pics and the majority turned out great. It's going to be tough to go through them all and choose the best ones. D did a lot of experimenting with lighting this time and is happy with the results. He's really becoming a good photographer.smile

We didn't finish up until almost 9:30 PM. Our "formal" photo shoots are always time consuming - first off having to do hair and make up and shave legs and pussy, having to set up the photo lights, having to change outfits, offloading and viewing pics after each series. And for some reason, our picture-taking sessions always manage to turn into another kind of session - and that takes time.wink Thursday's shoot culminated in a bubble bath. Got some really nice pics, and the bath felt sooo good after being under those super-hot lights most of the day.

This morning D ran a slide show presentation of all of Thursday's pics so we could get a look at them again, but we didn't actually write down pic numbers and move them to other folders. Guess we'll do that this afternoon and then tomorrow start readying them to post. Will probably post the first batch on Monday.

In the meantime, I've received a couple of requests to post my profile pic (re-post it, actually) so I'm going to do that now. Have a good weekend, all! xxx

Tuesday, October 11, 2005, 3:48:33 AM- Come on, you guys
Can't you now give the Angels at least a smidgen of respect? I know they're not the team they were in 2002, but - hey - they just beat the all-mighty Yankees!

(*grinning from ear to ear*)

Thursday, September 8, 2005, 12:44:28 AM- Good news is no news - ?
The following AP story appeared in our local newspaper on Monday:

"FRENCH QUARTER STILL HAS LIFE
Determination: Some gritty residents say they've survived for a week by helping each other.

In the absence of information and outside assistance, groups of rich and poor banded together in the French Quarter, forming "tribes" and dividing up the labor.

As some went down to the river to do the wash, others remained behind to cook and to protect property.

While mold and contagion grew in the muck that engulfed most of the city, something else sprouted in this most decadent of American neighborhoods--humanity."

The article went on to describe how well this small ad hoc community has fared because of the self-reliant, neighbor-helping-neighbor attitude the residents chose to adopt. It was a wonderful story, but I never saw it covered on TV. D and I have been watching CNN almost around the clock since Katrina struck and all we've heard is bad news, no stories like this one. Why is that? Why is only the bad brought to the public's attention?

"This from a brit who can only watch in horror.
I am so sorry for you people but stories like this make me believe in the spirit of humanity. Where governments fail, the people will prevail.
Bush knows how to take life, but finds no economic justification in saving it.
May your God go with you.

Saturday, August 13, 2005, 12:53:27 AM- No lie
"Stop lieing your not 52, you are much younger than that."

That's the first line of a message I received this morning from a male NN member. Despite being called a liar, I chose to take it as a compliment because he obviously feels I don't fit into his notion of what a 50+ year old woman should look like (and because the rest of his message was complimentary - lol).

As I told the guy in my answering PM, I have not lied about my age. I was born in 1953 and turned 52 earlier this year. I feel I was blessed with good genes - my father was Swedish and always looked young for his age, and that's probably how I got my "youthful" looks. But it got me thinking: Why is there still a perception among some people that when a woman reaches the age of 50, she suddenly becomes old looking and sexually unappealing, and she doesn't much care because she's turned into a dried-up, asexual being?

Okay, I may be exaggerating just a bit, but you know what I mean. My guess is it's because of the tremendous (media-driven) emphasis on youth and newness in this country. That's caused anyone or anything old to be viewed as less desirable. Well, let me tell you, personally I've never felt so desirable, so attractive and so sexy (and so horny!) in my life now that I'm over 50.

Some of it has to do with the increased self-acceptance and self-assurance that seem to come with age, but a lot of it has to do with - yep - posting pics of my naked body on the Internet. What a much-needed and much-appreciated self-esteem booster that's been.

Anyway, who says 52 year old women can't be young looking? Christie Brinkley, Kim Basinger, Kate Capshaw, Meredith Vieira, Pat Benatar - they were all born in 1953, too, and, geez, how great do they look? All vibrant, alluring, self-confident, sexually appealing women WHO ARE OVER FIFTY. Not that I compare myself to any of them, I'm just proud to say I share their year of birth and am happy to be part of the sisterhood.

So when I tell my age, everybody, I'm not lying - I'm bragging.

Fifty-plus and proud of it,
'Boobs

Saturday, August 6, 2005, 12:28:35 AM- The Thrill is (not) Gone
Went to B.B. King's Blues Fest last night and had a great time. The concert was part of his Eightieth Birthday Tour, can you believe it? The man will turn 80 years old next month. He's not quite the performer he was years ago, but he still knows how to put on a good show and can he ever still play. It was so nice of D to go with me because he doesn't really like bluesy music. He's a country fan through and through. But he did enjoy parts of the concert especially hearing a guitar played to sound like a violin (Joe Bonamassa), like a horn (Kenny Wayne Shepherd) and like a human voice (B.B. King). That was so awesome.

I know next to nothing about playing the guitar, but I do know what I like. And I LOVE the blues. Back in the early '70s, when I was single and still having to use a fake ID, I briefly dated a guitarist. He played lead in a white-bread cover band that performed at wedding receptions and large parties and such but his passion was the blues, and it was he who introduced me to that music. On one of our dates, he took me to a blues club in L.A. and that night changed my life forever. I had always liked R&B and some soul music, but I had never heard pure, raw blues before. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I don't know why, there was just something about it that touched something inside me, and I've felt that way ever since. It's almost visceral.

I love and appreciate different kinds of music and have pretty eclectic tastes - I mean, I get off on AC/DC's sexy power chords yet I'm reduced to a puddle of tears each time I hear Massenet's Meditation - but no music has ever affected me like the blues. Years ago, it just reached in and grabbed hold of my guts and it's never let go. I hope it never does.

"Hey friend, your blogs are always interesting! I love to read them! I like all kinds of music too. Love the blues. My favorite type of blues is the raw, stripped down kind such as Howlin Wolf. B.B. King is and always has been a living legend. Funny, but when I think of him the first thing that comes to mind is seeing him on Sanford and Son singing "How Blue Can You Get"! LOL
I like AC/DC too but mostly just when they had Bon Scott on vocals. KISS is still my favorite band ever. What showman and business men those guys are. They aren't the band they were in 1976, but I don't care, to this day they still put on an amazing show!"
