Saturday, April 12, 2014, 2:07:26 PM- Chicago from 17 floors up...
I took these with my Iphone while in Chicago. Unfortunately, there are reflections from with the room I was in and the late evening sun was creating reflections from the windows in the surround buildings. This did, however, create interesting patterns on the surrounding buildings. Dusk over the elevated line. Looking over the Congress Hotel with Lake Michigan behind.

I only had to step outside my front door to take this pic. Maybe Winter has finally released its grip on the Midwest States.

Saturday, March 29, 2014, 2:50:08 PM- Star Wars Symphonic Suite
Give this a look. It's an incredible rendition of the Star Wars Symphonic Suite on an old Wurlitzer pipe organ. You have to see it. There aren't many folks that can operate such a complex instrument from a bygone age.

Love the videos from the '80s. Remember when MTV really was music television? I really enjoyed this when it came out. Yes, surprise, it's Deep Purple. I thought it funny they did a video on the premise that they would not do videos. They really didn't like the medium. You can REALLY date this video just by watching it. This is a pretty good tune from the House of Blue Light album.

A nice instrumental from the Man in Black and Rainbow. Short and sweet.

Classic Rainbow, featuring Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell and Ritchie Blackmore. I never got the chance to see Rainbow with Dio. This is live in Munich, 1977. Blackmore is on fire and Dio, well, he wasn't the voice of heavy metal for nothing. The Rainbow was a one of a kind, computerized (in 1977!) stage prop that created the need for Blackmore to have his Fender Strats rewired to eliminate the buzzing it generated. It was a great effect, at the time...

Here's a gem I never heard until recently picking up a Roy Buchanan compilation. A sweet tune that was written by Otis Redding, featuring the vocals of Kanika Kress. A wonderful recording from 2 performers who are no longer with us. Kanika has a soulful voice and Buchanan's guitar work is both haunting and beautiful.

Hard to imagine where this man would be had he lived. Such enormous talent then and still young. I always loved this song. Short, but really nice. Free flowing guitar work and great vocals.

Sunday, March 2, 2014, 9:41:09 PM- Still Lazy...
As a followup to a previous post of a cover of Deep Purple's Lazy by Joe Bonamassa, here is the real deal from 1985, right after the Mach 3 lineup reunited. The guys are on fire and it includes a pretty darned good drum solo. Blackmore has some fun with the intro...
