Monday, December 19, 2005, 11:31:49 AM- Cutting the tree was HALF the fun!
Sunday morning, we carried out our annual tradition of going to a tree farm, picking and cutting the "Perfect" Christmas tree!

When I was a Dragon pup, some of my fondest memories were of my dad and Uncle "Press" taking my siblings and I, and our two cousins out to cut down two trees for our respective families!

After I finally settled back in Maryland, I spurned the live cut trees sold in stores and on corners to rekindle the tradition! That was fifteen years ago! My children, and now grandchildren, make a moring of it but now, instead of two cars, we caravan with four or five cars - all to find the "prefect" trees!

Pixie and I, watching our kids grow, and now with kids of their own, enjoying the "petting pens" of livestock, the train display, the hot cocoa [mine 'bumped' with Crown Royal from my flask smile of course!] and, finally, them running through the rows of trees to pick the PERFECT TREE!

Getting the tree is only half the fun! Yet, for me, personally, this family tradition gives me a warm glow inside, cocoa notwithstanding! This tradition let's me focus on my father and his brother, long passed, and brings them back to life through memories of them! Makes them IMMORTAL!!!

I can bring the past through them to the future through our grandchildren and mesh them all in the present - through me! Someday, this tradition may make me immortal as well, when I go to join my ancestors!!!

Thanks for letting me share!!!

Friday, December 16, 2005, 1:40:45 AM- Marines never die!
I just, two days ago, got a phone call from a Marine buddy I haven't seen since 1979!

He sells insurance for Prudential and was called by my sister off of a 1-800 number!!! When she said our city's name and gave me as a next-of-kin not in her household, he connected the last name!!!

She e-mailed me to ask if I knew him and not only did I say "Fuck Yeah" but I asked her to call him back and ask if he was a groomsman in my first wedding ceremony and when!!! He answered right time and place!! He was around for the birth of my two oldest kids!

Since Tuesday, we've e-mailed each other, exchanging pics {not my NN's.....yet} and talked on the phone! We've exchanged numbers of other comrades we served with that each had lost touch with respectively!!! I'm still blown away!!!

OOH-RAH!!! It's a Marine thing, some of you won't understand!!!

Three male co-workers and I stood across from our building during a fire drill early yesterday [11/1]!

We were judging the ladies as they walked to and fro!

Topic: "Is she sitting on pussy so happy it makes her smile when she walks?"!!!

Sunday, October 30, 2005, 11:45:30 AM- A Halloween Party AFTER the party (HeHeHe)!
Last night, Pixie and I went to a Halloween Party with a longtime gal-pal! I dressed as a Japanese Shogun and Pixie and 'gal-pal' as Black Panthers! I made a "Y" shaped plastic leash and bought two jeweled chokers and led my 'cats' around the club! We won $75.00 for the "Most Original Costume(s)"! Had a ball!!!

Later, we retired to 'gal-pal's' home to clean up - and REALLY had a ball! 'Gal-pal' has consented to allow the "before party" pix to be posted,... but the "after party" pix [and short vid] would really be what NNers want to see! She's not an NNer - We'll work on her, then maybe you can see what happened when they got "nekkid" after the party!!!!! Whew!!!!

"Non-smoking" Day 11:

BP was 121 over 81 [bottom number down 9 pts],
O2 the breathing level still the same!
Down to only Hypertension med.
Not coughing much at night!!

Doctor buddy of ours sez a shot of whiskey per night is good for the blood. Thins it out just a bit if taken in moderation!

He gave me this diagnosis while we were in the bar and he was fishing for his smokes! Never did trust him since high school! He liked my first wife!

We solved three world problems tonite,... won't remeber what the hell we talked about, tomorrow!

Pixie's still raving over my Egg Foo Yung from last night's dinner. She took the 'leftovers' for lunch which gave her "Hubby cooked" bragging rights!

"Fail Safe" w/ Matthau and Fonda is the background noise! "A dream, a dream!"!

Simple pleasures!

Wednesday, October 12, 2005, 2:19:00 PM- Arachnophobia is a four-letter word!
I have a phobia for spiders because of an episode when I was a kid. Can't stand to see even a still picture much less one on TV/movie/etc.

Last week, one got on my arm as I lay in bed, drifting off to sleep! I couldn't bring myself to go back to bed even though I killed it. Usually, I get Pixie to kill them!

Then, as I washed yesterday, there was another on the wall outlet in out bathroom! She had left for work so I had to kill this one too!

I'm at work now and I just realized that I've been unconsciously scratching - neck, ears, head!

Hives?

Saturday, October 8, 2005, 7:00:44 PM- In support of Goshdang's song of truth,...
"Gosh" brought up a topic that is usually discussed in hushed tones: Why is it that more interracial couples are African-American Males with Caucasian females and not the other way around?

My argument would be that Black men are glared at by some from each culture for choosing out of their respective cultures but the Black women are openly chastised; sometimes fiercely!

When people who have problems with interracial dating/marriages see the Black man with a White woman, Blacks, both male and female, are reluctant to criticise them to their face - possibly fearing the reaction of the male as a figure more apt to take vehement offense to the intrusion!

On the other hand, in public, Black females tend to to be non-confrontational to the Black female and her White lover but very vocal! What we call "Loud-talking", voicing an opinion to nobody in particular but loud enough for the couple to hear!

When those who are aquainted with and are opinionated about a Black woman who has a white mate, they may, privately, circle her like jackels until she puts her foot down! Something the Black male does not have to suffer to a large extent.

Interestingly, when Blacks who do not condone race-mixing outwardly are faced with siblings or relatives who take a mate out of their own culture, they tend to be what we call "stand-offish"! During extended family gatherings, they will be cold and distant until they realize that they are isolated in their beliefs within the family dynamic! Then, "Amy" or "Hal" [how's THAT for stereotyping smile?] are "OKAY" because they're one of "us"!

So, in summary, I would argue that BM w/ WF is more prevalent than BF w/ WM because of the pressure on the Black female not to, supposedly, "betray" her race!

It's no different, racially, than it is, ethnically! How many Eastern European Jewish women do you find with Irish Catholic men? Who knows! One can not tell, as easily, from across the street!

Thank gawd, love is colorblind!!!!

One Dragon's opinion!

The next seminar will examine: Make-up generalization: Caucasian Women - heavily; African-American Women - lightly! What's that all about?" [me puts tongue-in-cheek]

Thursday, October 6, 2005, 11:03:35 AM- TRIBUTE to Brandywine
There are NNer Goddesses and there are NN ICONS! This was a pic I had the forsight to download before Brandywine was xxxxxx away by the insensitivity of the trolls!

We, Pixie and I, never got a chance to ask her permission to use her image as our desktop's background, but if she knew that We do this with love and admiration, we don't think she'd mind!

Miss ya, Brandy!

LOL

Wednesday, September 21, 2005, 2:03:36 PM- QUIT SMOKING CAMPAIGN
This is Day THREE since Pixie and I decided to make a concerted effort to quit smoking.

Day ONE: We caved and bought a pack in the evening but only smoked 2 apiece! A far cry from the pack-and-a-half I'd do sometimes! MARGINAL VICTORY

Day TWO: Smoked 2 in the morning and 1 in the evening. An increase over the day before but overall, still a marginal victory

Dat THREE: ! with morning coffee. I'm at work and craving drawing on a cool menthol right now!!! If you get away from me, I just might be able to save your life!
