Saturday, March 8, 2008, 3:09:08 PM- what a glorious time of year...
It is that time, we in the states often refer to as March Madness. That is time for all the post season basketball tournements for college basketball. Normally by this time of year, I am beat down because my alma maters team is usually pretty terrible. Well, this year has gone differently. We are actually pretty good. Young, but good. We should be in the Dance and hopefully can win a game or two. Our women's team is the conference regular season champions this year after having the worst record in the conference last year. It was quite a turnaround. Anyway, time to get all the hype going...by the end, I certainly hope that the weather is warmer and it will be time to get outside and work and play...

O well, better get some cleaning done this weekend...

Monday, March 3, 2008, 12:46:56 PM- a weather update
Ok, well yesterday was an interesting day in the weather here. The day started out beautiful and shortly after noon the temps were in the low 60's. The sun was out and it was looking like a great spring day. (other than all the water that was around from the melting snow) About mid afternoon it started to get cloudy and cool off. Then about 4:30 or so, it started raining. Of course adding to water with which was everywhere. Afte several hours of rain it seem to stop. I went to bed about 10:30 and it was just beginning to snow. Not thinking it would be all that bad...Well, reports are that we had thundersnow. You heard me right. Total result was about 4 inches or so of new snow this morning. Good news is that it wasn't heavy snow and the break between the rain and snow gave enough time that most if the water had time to run off so that there do not appear to be large amounts of ice underneath.

I just hope this is all over soon. I'm getting spring fever...that itch ya know...

O well, better get to work...

Checked the weather (yuck, rain this afternoon and 2 to 4 inches of snow tonight...(tomorrow morning aint gonna be any fun). went and took a shower and then went to the store to get supplies...Forgot the one thing that I really needed to get...sad is that a sign I'm getting old???

O well, still have work to do around the house but I don't care right now if it gets done or not...

Hope y'all have a good day...

Thursday, February 28, 2008, 9:56:22 PM- one day left.
many loyal readers of my blog...(ok maybe just MD) probably know what that means. Just one day left in the month of February. Meaning my month of wearing a tie to work will have officially been fulfilled at the end of the day tomorrow. The last week or so I haven't had any comments at all. I did miss two days this month so I think I am going to actually wear one the first two days of next week at least just to say I've made it the equvalent of the month. Then the decision will be, do I keep wearing them or do I go back to my polo shirts. I'm sure if I go back,I'll get questions about why i did.

hmmm i'll have to think about that one....

O well, tomorrow is payday too....YAY

well, hope you had a good week and have a good weekend.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 11:54:11 PM- is it friday yet???
First let me say....I see that I am approaching a huge milestone....1000 views of my blog....(is that a bog deal). Anyway, whoever, is #1000 comment so i know who to thank for putting me over the top smile

Yesterday was a long day and it was only Monday. Rained most of the day but turned to snow late afternoon and so we had a bunch more ice this morning. Driving was a lot of fun but I made it where I needed to go ok.

Today I had 3 meetings at work all of which i would classify was spending way too much time for what we got accomplished, but I guess if the boss wants to meet, we meet.

Tomorrow evening I have a meeting to go to (which means I probably won't be around much tomorrow evening) and it will be late when I get in. Thankfully, I don't have much else on my plate the rest of the week so hopefully I can get some rest.

Well, hope ya all have a good week.

Saturday, February 23, 2008, 6:57:07 PM- well, I guess i can call it a day.
ok, so I spent this morning outside. I went to a lake not too terribly far from my place. There are usually many bald eagles around the outflow of the lake. Today was no different. I took my camera hoping to to get some good photos. Well, heres what I learned....I'm a terrible photographer.

Everyone of the pictures I took has significant issues. I know what my issues were, I think. One is that I need to clean that lens....bad. I have so many spots that even had I got any good pics I probably wouldn't even share them just because of the spots. My other issue was a choice I made on one of the settings. I thought it was light enough that I could shoot at 100. Well, because it wasn't, I had a slow shutter speed. Because I was using such a big lens, it was difficult to keep it steady with the longer exposures.

O well, I guess I learned something and next time I'll know better. And it was fun to just watch them fly....

/me exits cussing himself...

Saturday, February 16, 2008, 5:37:20 PM- a busy week ahead.
The next week is gonna be a busy one for me. Of course I have my regular work responsibilities that I'll have to take care of. Tomorrow is my birthday (I'll be 35) and it is also the 50th running of the great american race (the Daytona 500) which I will certainly watch. Early pat of next week isn't too bad. Wednesday is math contest day. Each year, an organization that I am a member of holds a math contest for middle school/jr. high students (6th through 8th grades) I participated in this competition when I was younger and each year I volunteer to help run the contest. It's a good time, but for someone who is an office worker, being on my feet all day will most certainly be a challenge. It is a rewarding thing though so I don't care that much.

After that, I have a couple of major projects at work that need to be done the end of the week so I'll have to put my nose to the grind stone and get them knocked out.

Let's hope we don't get too much bad weather here. That could make things interesting.

Well, I'll see ya around

Sunday, February 10, 2008, 1:31:08 AM- ok, update to the update.
Ok, so a couple people commented they wanted an update about my wearing a tie, although I'm not sure why.

The week went ok. I am still getting the occasional question about something and of course there has been the daily "inspection" by a few of the ladies in the office. I'm pretty sure that I have passed each day so far. I do have one more shirt that I have worn yet so we'll see. Of course I have many other combinations that haven't been seen, so I'm sure the morning inspections will continue.

One thing to note is that it makes a little more work at lunch. We had been walking the halls of our building during lunch (kind of a weight loss thing, or maybe just a weight maintenance thing to be more accurate). When I was wearing polo shirts, I'd just walk in them. With the shirt and tie on, I don't really want to get them all sweaty so I now take a tshirt and change before we walk.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the update.

Have a good weekend,
HCB

Friday, February 8, 2008, 11:23:33 PM- A life update...
Ok, so some of you might want to know what is really going on in my life. The answer is really not a whole lot of anything exciting. We had about 9 inches (if my math is right that 23cm) of snow here mid week. It is pretty warm here today so there is a lot of melting going on.

I'm going through my typical mid to late winter "depression". Not really depression as such but just tired of being inside and ready for spring to get here to get outside and get some fresh air.

Um, I'd say that work is the same stuff in the same pile, but I'd probably be wrong. The only real constant in my job right now is change. Ok, so my job responsibilities aren't changing, what I do is the same, but there are small changes that occur weekly that affect how I do my job.

Hmmmm, still got a birthday coming up in a few days. Noting planned as of yet. I'll probably find something to do for it, but we'll see. (early forecasts for that day are calling for snow).

Anyway, that's my life in a nutshell right now.

Hope y'all have a good weekend.
