Today we celebrate our Declaration of Independence from England in 1776 in the United States. A lot of people in the U.S.A. think that that was when we became a country. Actually, England didn't like our declaration, so we had to beat them in the Revolutionary War to gain our independence. When a treaty was signed in Paris in 1783, we then became the United States of America. Just in case you didn't know. ~ | ||

My parents grew up during the Great Depression, many times with little to eat. My generation was fed well, but our parents booted us out of the house every day to play, which burned off a lot of calories. Two generations later, parents let their children play video games, surf the 'net and eat unhealthy snacks... and wonder why the kids are obese. | ||
