Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

I have spent a large part of my life working. Some jobs were great, like working as a movie extra. Some jobs were terrible, like working as a meter reader for the electric company. Some jobs paid fantastic, like my 6 1/2 years as a machinist for GM, where I made better than 6 times the minimum wage. Others paid poorly (for the work and responsiibility), as in being the night manager for a convenience store, where I made minimum wage. Ironicly, I now make, between my hourly pay and social security, what I made working for GM, but the buying power is not the same. My late Father worked 34 years for GM, with added pay as a musician on the side. He had a great retirement from GM and I never heard him complain. When I retire, I will be living on Social Security and my savings. Not great, but if I can get out of debt before I retire, it won't be too bad. Here's to all of you working class heroes: ~

I was a teenager in the 1960's. Yes, I'm that old. The good thing was that I was there for the 'British Invasion', which gave us the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, etc. With all of the new groups coming in, occasionally there were some odd, one hit wonder groups, like 'Freddie and the Dreamers': Luckily, groups like this were few and far between and have been pretty much forgotten. ~

Was watching the Yankees - Rays game on tv while watching Mariners - Red Sox on my computer. Rays game delayed (they play in a domed stadium) by power outage. Meanwhile, Red Sox game in Boston played in the rain. Maybe 'newer' isn't always better. ![]()

I watched this great classic last night. 'Thin Man' series regular William Powell, Carole Lombard and a host of superb character actors. Well worth the time. ![]()

This is one of those songs that can really transport me back in time. A simple little song by a family group The Cowsills, who had other hits at that time like 'Hair' (from the musical) and 'Indian Lake'. I love this song, because as a teenager I had a similar experience in the late 1960's. Ahhh... ![]()

I am definitely my late father's son: same face, same shape of eyes, same crooked grin. Built the same, but 2 inches taller. The only real differences in us physically is hair and eye color, both of which I got from my mother. As I age, I see the biggest resemblance is feet. Yes, they look the same and are actually a size bigger than my late dad's. I notice more and more the greatest 'sameness' is temperature. You could walk past my dad in the summer when he was kicked back in his recliner and touch the bottom of his feet and they would be icy cold. I have had a reminder today. It's 75 degrees and here I am in t-shirt, shorts... and socks, because my feet are cold. I can live with having the same looks, the same groans and mannerisms. But cold feet I can do without. And if all I have to complain about is cold feet, then life is going just fine. ![]()
