A touch of vertigo is back. Caught me by surprise, because I clean my ears with peroxide and alcohol daily after my shower. Not as bad as the last time, just hard to lie down to sleep. Have to lie on my left side. Getting better, hope it's gone soon! ![]()

What do you call soft drinks? Soda? Pop? I've heard people actually argue about which term is correct. Actually, it is soda pop. The term was first used in 1863 (Merriam Webster Dictionary). It really depends on what part of the country you're in. Spending a lot of time in the south growing up, everyone called them just pop. In the midwest and east, it's a toss up. Both terms are used. It appears that some people consider it 'higher class' to say soda. Either one is fine to me, as long as I can get one. Aren't you glad you took the time to read something so mundane? ![]()

Growing up, I liked the Bee Gees. Then the movie "Saturday Night Fever" came out and the group became synonymous with Disco. As a rock and roller, it was hard to stomach the change in their style. This song is from their last "pre-disco" album and brings back a lot of bitter-sweet memories of the love of my life. I bought her this album and she loved it: I'll always have a special place in my memories for these lads from Australia. ~

December 7th, 1941. Japan attacks Pearl Harbor, drawing the United States into World War II. December 8th, 1980. John Lennon is shot and killed outside his New York City apartment. The first date affected my late father. The second me. Dad never forgot the first and how it affected his future. On a smaller scale, the second affected my future. (sighs) ~

The long journey to receive my registration for my car is soon to be over. After 46 days (from when the old registration expired), I am driving over to the local BMV to pick it up. I have spent the last 61/2 weeks trying not to let a cop car get behind me while driving, lest they see the expired sticker on my license plate. Of course, this whole ordeal could have been averted had my postal carrier just delivered it to me in the first place. Because my apartment number wasn't on the address, he kept sending it back. As I've written before in a previous blog, I've lived in the same spot for 23 years. Never had any problem before. Finally, after talking to the BMV online, it has arrived at my local, so all I have to do today is just wait in line to pick it up. BTW... since I might have the same postal carrier next year, I changed my address on the BMV site to include my apartment number. Gotta love the red tape, eh? ~

Two things about this video: First is the memory of listening to this as a kid in a greasy spoon while playing pinball in the early morning before classes started at my high school way back in 1969. Second is Sharon Tate, a beautiful actress murdered by the Manson family in 1969. ~

| Tuesday, December 3, 2019, 7:36:23 PM- Humbling experience | ||
23 days ago, I bought a brand new computer. I have been pleased with it, even through the experience of getting used to it. The only drawback I had was trying to find an adapter for my hdmi port, which is how I connect my computer to my t.v. In the past, I've had Dell computers and they all required an adapter to pug the cable from the t.v. to make everything work. Well, 23 days later and 4 different sized adapters that didn't work later, I found I could just simply plug the cable directly into the port... no adapter needed. One more reason I've come to like an HP computer over a Dell. And considering myself an intelligent man, it was quite humbling to know that no matter how much you over think things, the simplest solution is usually the easiest and best way to do things. At least everything works perfectly now... even though I'm a little red faced from the experience. ~
