I had a dream last night that aliens would take over a president as soon as he is sworn in.

The last 4 years makes a lot more sense now.

What a year. It started with my losing the love of my life, quickly followed by (around here) the infamous Blizzard of '78.

But then life began to turn around:

My old high school won their record 6th State Championship in basketball. That summer, I hired in at the local GM plant, or as a friend used to call it: 'Big Buck Country'.

In the fall I secured a better place to live, bought a new car and got a great stereo.

Life moved on and so did I.

I heard this song on the way home from work last night and as I did, those memories came flooding back.


Visually complimentary to a classic song. It made me smile.

I'm normally a fairly easy going guy on social media.

I don't get political and just try to talk about life in general, humorously if possible.

The only problem I seem to have is on Facebook. I mainly go there just to keep up with old friends, some that go as far back as 50+ years.

I usually post funny or thought provoking things.

The problem is with old friends who are Trump minions. They take offense to the smallest ideas that don't match theirs and try to make everything political.

Example:

A couple of days ago, I posted a joke on FB and the same one here, about a gay, biracial and illegal alien marriage being the trifecta for bigots/racists. Most of my friends thought it was funny.

One guy I've known since high school took offense and went on a tirade about how he thought I was calling him a bigot, even though I clearly never even implied anyone by name. He went so far (twice) to say 'fuck you' to me.

I thought about writing him a little message to say that if the shoe fits and to further tell him that any time he wants to say that to my face, he knows where I live.

But

I am an adult now. I don't put up with drama any more, so instead I unfriended his whiny ass.

To be honest, it felt good.

And I am once again moving on with my life.

I found a simple recipe for microwave meatloaf online.

Cooking time is 13 minutes, which is great.

I have a feeling that combining the ingredients (hamburger, egg, quick oats, onion, salt & pepper) will probably take me longer than the actual cooking time.

A big part of the joy of cooking is in the preparation.

Saturday dinner is now anticipated.

When tom Brady left the New England Patriots to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there were several so called 'experts' who said that Brady, at then age 42, was past his prime.

Well, guess what, 'experts'?

At the ripe old age of 43, Tom Brady is going to play in yet another Super Bowl.

Yes, the Kansas City Chiefs will probably be the overwhelming favorites, but with Brady you just never know.

As a nobody who played competitive basketball until the age of 39 and league softball until the age of 43, I admire his fortitude.

If you've still got it, why not play?

There can be only one answer. Saying both is a cop out.

If only we could get rid of the toxic people in our lives as easily as unfriending on Facebook.

Life would be simpler and happier.

When I was a kid, we all watched Superman on t.v. - sure it was hoaky. But kids loved it and looked up to the star of the show George Reeves. When the story broke in 1959, kids across the country were heartbroken.


I still don't think he killed himself. There was a lot going on in his life behind the scenes and to me the evidence doesn't point to suicide.
