Video 1 on 1 for Luddites?

I could use some help with learning how to video-chat....just looking for real people over 40yrs- not web-sites or "Pro" shows.... I can get my cam up, but how, and who do i get to visit? Skype would need you to set a time and date...Yahoo chat seems to be all Pro ads... other chat rooms seem to be time-sucks, with no way to connect 1 on 1...
I can't even understand the addresses- or well... you get it.... anyone???
