Great blog Toy.

Mods help keep the site legal and fun for all. The rules on general expected behavior are posted. As you said, NN is a business, and as with any business rules are needed to keep the business operating.

I totally agree. My only issue with being censored.....private messaging. I am not sure if there are rules regarding this in particular though? I will go look.

literally the last line of the first area of the rules page is "Content rules that apply to one area of NewbieNudes.com apply to all. For example, taboo talk is not allowed it chat, therefore it is not allowed anywhere, including usernames, status, photos, etc." this would include PMs.

I would have not considered PMs "etc" or to be not private. Thanks for clarifying. But it's confusing when we don't even know what words are "taboo". Makes it rather impossible to follow the rules...or know when our PMs don't go through.

^^^ But you know, I beat a dead horse here. I just don't like the idea that private messages are really not so. That should be made clear, and it's really not. Ditto the banned words. Why keep us guessing on that? It makes no sense.

I understand that this is an issue for some members Lulu, how about we suggest a mailerdeamon type thing that would alert us of a PM that does not go through? Yes there should also be a list of general banned words, yes the bot should be smarter and yes members should know these things.

It would most definitely be nice to know if a PM does not go through. I was just chatting with a member, not even about anything sexual. Not anything remotely offensive. I knew her well enough to ask if the message was received, and NOPE. Still have no idea why. That is annoying. It's happened to me multiple times. Must be some word I like to use that I do not realize is "bad"! I am just a big fan of clear rules. ;)

A mailerdeamon type thing was one of the suggestions I put forward on the suggestion site. Will it ever happen? I doubt it. Lulu, if you are unsure of whether a PM has gone through, send it to yourself. If you don't get it, take bits out till you find the culprit word. Ridiculous to have to do this I know but it works.

Gee, I know of many other members who posted a blog similar to this one. Hell, there have even been numerous status posts in reference to it. Your words, like most of the words written on this subject still ring true today. Many members as far back as 2003 were mentioning this as well.

It's true, Toy. Very well put. If others don't agree with it, they can leave. If others want to jump on the bandwagon of the oppressed, then that is their right. But it is NN's right to do as he or the site managers to mute, gag or delete the trouble makers.

This isn't even the first time I've blogged about this, but people need to be reminded every now and then...

It's good that you re-post it. You know others tend to forget.
