It's May Day bank holiday here - at least I think it's May day and that's why we get a day off. In the UK we just get random bank holidays which never generally seem to have that much meaning... I just enjoy my day off!

In a round about way, I work for the government (don't ask me what I do - if I told you I'd have to kill you...which, as there are a lot of you, may take me forever). Anyway, as it's one of the Queen's birthdays tomorrow (greedy woman - does having 2 birthdays a year make her twice as old as she is?!) I therefore, also have tomorrow off as a holiday. I am not usually a fan of royalty but always appreciate the day off "Ma`am" lol!

Today we will be catching up on episodes of Lost and Heroes, eating a selection of cheeses and drinking wine. Nothing like it! Tomorrow involves buying a new suit for work (boring) and a couple of pairs of shoes (yaaay!).

I know it's Memorial Day across the pond, so wish all our friends and family over there a good one (not that Mr McB's family are likely to be accessing NN - I hope!). It's good to spend some time remembering those we've lost, particular poignant for Mr McB who is ex US Military and has lost a number of brave friends and colleagues over the years.

I haven't been on that much lately and with all the comings and going of folk lately was worried that when I logged in today, there wouldn't be anyone left in blogland who I'd recognise. I was relieved to go through some blogs this morning and see people are still here!!

I imagined it would be like a really heavy party when you get really drunk, wake up in the dark on the settee, covered in curry sauce, only to find that everyone but you has gone home and the host went to bed hours ago.

Not only have the Swedes brought us some great porn and Abba, but they also make the beautiful Pear cider "Kopparberg" which is apparently the number 1 selling pear cider in the UK and worldwide.... why have I not discovered it before?

I toast you Sweden!

PS still not smoking.... though may now be addicted to Kopparberg instead....

So many different and interesting contributors to the Forum have left lately. As much as I don't go to the Forum that much these days, I will miss the humour, warmth and just plain nuttiness of some of those individuals!! Some of these posters had great blogs too.

It's a shame

I wish them all well in real life and hope to see them back some day.

Anyway it's been a while since I posted - but I am still not smoking

My temper (in the absence of nicotene) hasn't been too bad though I have been a bit irritable (which is nice for those around me as you can imagine).

Thanks again for the supportive messages I've received - it's been really great

Just came back from visiting my mum in the country. It's hot here - well for me it is anyway. Am not that good in hot weather - I don't burn in the sun but can't be doing with getting sweaty outdoors or getting a tan which makes me look like a leather handbag lol. I would have been good in Victorian times I think - pale and covered up by day, pale and debauching by night!

Nice to see the sun shining though I must admit - always fun to observe the number of pink and white people sitting outside pubs drinking way too much beer! They will pay for it later I'm sure

Am still not smoking and haven't missed the act of lighting up etc. as yet, as have been at home in a non-stressful situation. Back to work tomorrow for the first time since my lurgy. Work is always a trigger unfortunately but I've got to try and get through it.

I am a little irritable today and am putting that down to withdrawal + heat

I am hoping I can stick to not smoking despite my general annoyance with the world!

I still have no voice so decided to visit the doc and take a day off work. Have layngitis (what a surprise as I have no voice!) and a nasty sinus infection but am feeling a bit better. Got drugs and a horrible nasal spray to try and sort it out.

Though I haven't smoked for around a week (just due to my lurgy) I am now officially giving up. I have a number of reasons - my constant state of having a cold and my recent abnormal smear issues just being a couple of things which have made me decide to do it. My health is more important and I am not as young as I was lol.

It is going to be horrible and am sure I am going to be horrible too. Poor Mr McB! I only smoke a few ciggies a day and they are usually at work, when stressed, but it's going to be hard to say goodbye to my old friend nicotene. It's always been there for me in hard times and good times (mostly with a nice alcoholic beverage).

I face one of the busiest and most stressful periods of my working year over the next 8 weeks and it's going to be a challenge. Any advice from those who have successfully kicked the weed is gratefully received!

It's sad to see people leave here sometimes - but it's always the way with forums etc. I suppose. Just seems to be a lot of people lately - and all of them people I enjoy seeing here.

I'm not sure what would make me leave this place. I am not one to chat much on here and I don't even post pics as much as I used to, but I still enjoy the site

It's addictive on many levels.

I wish all the people who've left well and hope they come back and visit NN again sometime

Ahhh it's a bank holiday today and I have no idea what to do. I mean, it's a day off so I should do something. I shouldn't just sit here watching DVDs or perving, whilst I think about what I could do with my time...should I?

That's what I should be. I am EXTREMELY germ infested and should come (or "cum" perhaps...) with a Government Health Warning.

On the basis of my level of lurgy infestation, I came home today with a laptop and tried to connect to the office remotely so as not to make anyone else ill - it took 4 bloody hours just to tap into my mailbox. I bet they still get my lurgy, but at least I tried to avoid it (well except for those people I don't like.... who I breathed over... a lot).

As a plus for Mr McB, I have completely lost my voice. A peaceful night in the McBoob household I think!
