Wow EC. I had no idea of what you ladies and your girls went thru in these preventative exams.Women sure seem to have a higher threshold of pain. I cannot imagine what women endure, wether mammograms, chid birth or the discomfort of the gyny doc.
Be well for sure all you wonderful women. xo

Thanks for the reality reminder for everyone. Some Medical tests are not easy for either sex....and waiting for the results can be excruciatingly painful and full of dread. On a happier note.... We are lucky to be alive in an era that sometimes values living longer. Our parents never had this opportunity. Nothing is easy!

I knew that mammograms were "uncomfortable". I'm now aware that's putting it mildly. Being considerate and encouraging must be the least we guys can do.

You've written a great piece which deserves the widest circulation. You have conveyed both the pain of the ordeal and why women endure this process. Not to mention, managing business as usual with the quiet anxiety of waiting for the results lurking just off-stage.

A really well written, thought provoking piece. A great addition to your canon of work here.

Thank you on all counts.

Stay well EC

Cheers

EC, there r many reasons I feel lucky to be a man and what u speak of today is near the top. I am thankful that I do not need to do a mammography and I am thank ful for 2 other reasons. First, that u r ok, and second that the girls have grown up so nice and healthy looking!

Many thanks to all of you for your great comments on this piece. This was precisely the reason for writing it, to enlighten....and to be enlightened. We can all learn from each other. The sad part of all of this is that there are probably very few of us as a population who can say they don't know at least one individual who has suffered from breast cancer. And that is a scary stat.

This could have been written by Ms Silver. It is a tough go but so nessesary. She lost an Aunt, a sister and her mother to this fiend. None of it was pretty. We join you in encouraging all of us to remain vigilant.

Silver...my heart goes out to Ms. To see this fiend as you so aptly put it making its way down the line must be terrifying. Years ago being proactive before the fact didn't exist. Now, women are taking their lives into their own hands. But it must be a horrific decision to make.
