Wow haven't heard anything from him in a few decades. How did we ever think that hair was cool tho?

Great, great track. Thank you.

How to define the essence of Pat Metheny? There's a something in his layering and arranging, something in his composition and the groove that marks his work as something special. You can hear a piece and just know it's him. Remarkable for an instrumentalist.

Love the drive and pulse of this. From the rhythm at the start to the vocal melody (which kind of resolves but kind of doesn't - almost Indian in construction) and all the parts in between. The keys and bass work are superb as is all the playing.

And I love that PM was able to perform the track without the need to highlight his guitar playing. It's there and what he plays (and doesn't play!!) is perfect for the piece. Superb taste.

Really liked it. Thanks again EC, Great choice.

He's still releasing music and winning awards. Released the album "Kin" last year.

PS
It took about five attempts but I kind of managed the clapping in the end.

Nice Acer....: ). I've seen all of his tour concerts, the last was Orchestrion a couple of years ago. In concert he's even more sublime, isn't he? Definitely my fave jazz fusion artist of all time. Started listening in the 70's and his music has gotten better and better. Although I will say that his Unity Band and Josh Redman is not my thing. Something about sax makes me think of nails on a chalkboard!

Been living in a cave, Sammy? ;)

Happy you enjoyed, M. He is definitely a unique artist and a few guitarists like Brian Hughes and Mike Stern have tried to imitate his style semi-successfully but really he's in a class of his own. Probably his sweetest partnership was with Lyle Mays who has sadly faded into obscurity since - although he did put out a few albums of his own. This vid is great because the players are all so far apart from each other with virtually no eye contact - and that's ridiculously tough to do. Plus I loved the dancing parrots. If I'd been there I would have been doing the same thing. :)

No biggie, Sammy...... I'm just a diehard fan. :)

My pleasure, HM.....what a nice surprise to hear that we share musical tastes. Honestly, it seems that the people I've met who know who Pat is are few and far between even though he has a massive and loyal following. So it warms my heart that we share this commonality. More of his tracks will follow in the days to come. :).

I have to say that the final chord of this track leaves me gasping for air every time hear it....it's like being suspended in air without knowing what's going to happen next. Unreal!

So pleased to introduce Pat to you Phoeb, I just might be one of his most avid ambassadors, so you've come to the right place. ;)

Another fine artist you treat us to. :) Long time fan but it's been awhile so it was a special lunch time treat today as the rain poured down.
Thank you!
