An astounding performance EC. Your greeting is a beautiful piece wonderfully played. Great choice. And applause for your talent. :)

I share your love of music. It is a major passion for me - more the food of life than the food of love. :)

I have wide musical tastes and look forward to your future suggestions. We already have something in common with our appreciation of Beck's Morning Phase album which a few of us discussed in your status a little while back.

I also play (guitar and bass) although nowhere near your standard.

Your blog shows us EC-philes another side of your considerable artistic ability. It's great getting to know you, as it were :).
(I'm also enjoying learning more about the other regular visitors to your gallery.)

Your blog is a great success. You are a great writer both in style and your encouragement to us readers to participate and share.

Once again EC, thank you. :)

love both the blog and recording. One of my favorite memories is attending the CSO and "conducting"along with Maestro Solti. One of the things I lovw the most abput moving back to is the opportunity to take my kids to the CSO, Lyric Opera, and Chicago's myriad of theaters and music venues.

Thanks again for sharing, that's probably the first time in 2 decades I've hears that piece since taking a music course as an undergrad.

Thank you, everyone. :) Big step to put that side of me out there, but I'm happy it's allowed you to get to know me a little more. I will post more as time goes on, Hanson....and as for the vid of me playing..well....given my lack of other vids in my gallery, um...that's a bit of a hard sell. But, one day it might happen. If everything's aligned and in the right place, musically and otherwise. :)

Zen, I have never seen Maestro Solti conduct but I have several of his recordings. How great that you're making a point of exposing your kids to culture. This will be with them for the rest of their days. :)

M.....pleasant surprise to hear that you're a musician too. Just to reiterate how interesting we all just might be underneath our NN façades. :)

Thanks EC. Started playing when I was about 13, took a break for a while in my 30s and have played and studies very intensely in the last nine years. Played in a stack of bands here in Sydney.

Re what lies underneath the NN façades - totally agree. Everyone has an interesting story to tell. One of the great things about your blog is sharing those stories. :)

cheers M

bOObz....you lift my spirits....thank you. So good to have music commonality between us, I hope to introduce you to lots of new music, or perhaps, even re-introductions to old favourites. :)

M...who knew? :) You've been holding out on me! How great!

Sometimes, the intensity of music study is too much for adolescents to deal with. I stopped piano when I was 13 also - as the required hours of practise everyday just weren't on my radar. Horses were. But like all of us with that gene, the siren called me back. And eventually my life at the stables was replaced with time spent at the piano at home or in tiny practise rooms. The joy of playing was too strong to ignore. I missed it.

Nice to hear you picked up the guitar again too. It's that inexplicable draw.... :)

A very beautiful selection! As a former piano student...I bow to your ability and your range of musical interests. Clothed or otherwise...... :-)

Many thanks, R.. :) Lovely to hear from another pianist. I'll put up a Chopin Nocturne here next time. :)

Bravo. Much different music than the Carmina Burana we attended last night. We commend your playing and admitting to playing the viola.
12-Apr-15 23:34:49
Thanks very much, Rabbit. :)

Carmina is a wonderful piece! One of my favourites. Lucky you to see it live! Quite the spectacle. :)

As for admitting to playing the viola, I guess you could say that I've had plenty of opportunity to get used to the pages and pages of viola jokes on the net. Finally, we've had a chance to redeem ourselves with Harold in Italy. ;)
