Well said, Candy.

Very well put EC. You put why this matters so well. Totally agree.

The politics of the denialists are puzzling. The vastly overwhelming scientific opinion on CO2 emissions is dismissed by people who have no expertise. There is no parallel in any other sphere of science. Extraordinary.

The polar bears of Churchill are a microcosm of what is happening all around the world. The scariest part for me is the warming of the ocean. All of that energy comes back as hurricanes of greater and greater ferocity.

An inconvenient truth, indeed.

Thanks, Rox. :)

Indeed, M.

Kudos to Al Gore for initially bringing awareness of this sad state of affairs to the forefront. Naomi Klein has written a great book about climate change and it was recently made into a documentary, called This Changes Everything. It's a powerful statement about capitalism and the effects of the stripping of the world's resources. How also, passionate people worldwide are fighting back. I think of An Inconvenient Truth and this film as collective and fine examples of cause and effect. And I hope This Changes Everything gets the attention it deserves.

As for warmer oceans....this has also attracted sharks and driven up the number of attacks around the world as well. Please swim with care in your neck of the woods!

Will check that doco out EC - thanks.

As for sharks - I'm very careful. I LOVE the beach and the surf but I take all of that very seriously.

Very interesting read. I will PM you my thoughts on what's going on here in Oz with fhe once-great river system struggling big time, amongst other observations.

Couldn't agree with you more EC. I worry about the earth we have left for my children and all the others.

Indeed, Norse. But on the other hand it's amazing to see the awareness and determination of kids who have been educated about the future of the planet and what can be done to restore and preserve it. I believe it will be left in capable hands. :)

Addendum: Leo Dicaprio just touched on this very topic in his acceptance speech after winning Best Actor for The Revenant. To make this film production had to be moved to the most southern tip of the planet in order to find snow. 2015 has been recorded as the hottest year in history. Thank you Leo for giving this important cause a place in your speech.

I had no idea that any of the Revenant was shot in Antarctica EC. Good on LdeC for drawing attention to this. Big changes have to be made to mitigate the bigger changes that are on the way.
