NN,

I think the major objection is that this way the blog is "front page news" versus being a story on page 4 that someone would have to seek out. Not everyone wants to be front page, especially if the blog is particularly personal. Being able to "opt out" a particular post from the communal view would indeed make the change as brilliant as you feel it is.

Kinda like candy bars...sometimes you feel like a nut...sometimes you don't.

it's a revelation to me as well that some people feel more vulnerable with their words and content of their blogs than they do about their anatomy and state of arousal. i can feel it from both sides, i guess.

I guess you should be listening to the people who use the blog system on a regular basis, After all i know you do a great job there, but the people here are the ones who make the site !!! just my opinion :)

With any change, there is bound to be hiccoughs and fits and starts... This is one of those times. The idea of a 'communal blog' is fine... but, the site is so large now that the application of it can't work. I will use the forums as example: A person posts a thread, and you can choose to see what's in that thread. The forums are no more 'personal' that blogs (in theory), but there is more choice and even privacy in them now than in blogs, and blogs sometimes express a deep feeling with some that isn't appropriate for all eyes. It's the sense that we have no choice in who reads what we write. It seems strange, I admit, that a blog is already semi-public anyway, but it's the fact that before we had a bit of choice and now we don't.

The other issue was indeed technical (i.e., size of blogs, image content, etc..) that will just make it less feasible for some to blog at all. That point is being addressed (and that's a good start).

But, you are being responsive to this, and that is never a bad thing. Thank you for listening. :)

I am also wondering how long it will take before the top 50 listing will be filled with blog entires reading 'horny male, age 35, looking for females'. It will look just like the notices section and this new format will only increase blog activity with meaningless stuff, tying up server traffic that you guys just tried to reduce by limiting the PM's.

Personally I know that this "open faced blog" isn't for me. That could be it's purpose. I write about things with a select audience in mind. Subsequently, ,my NN friends could choose to be exposed to my rantings. I don't mind people looking at my dick, my soul? thats another thing entirely!

..I really don't understand why everyone is upset. It's a blog - you write it so people can read 'you'. If you want privacy, why not write a PM?

I don't know. I think it's tasty.

I like coco_rosie's idea to keep the old front page and make a link to the new one. I like reading from the new page though - it's better than having to select every name and you can almost as easily skip any blog.

I also like juicy's request for multiple pages on personal blogs instead of one big page.

Good to introduce it this way or the new page may never have been noticed.
