Saturday, March 17, 2012, 4:23:04 PM- Perception and Morality
I had an interesting conversation today about nudity, sex and morality. It all started with a comment that insinuated that mixed company can't hang out nude without something sexual happening. Furthermore if something sexual did happen it would be cheating on your partner. What I was being told was that men and women couldn't simply be friends and hang out in the nude. I whole heartedly disagree with this of course.
My wife and I enjoy being nude as much as possible. We hang out nude with some friends occasionally but it's never been sexual. Just playing board games, video games and sitting around the fire. People (mostly men) seem to have a misguided notion that if a woman wants to be nude then they obviously want to have sex with them. This is an absurd notion that has to be frustrating for women and kept friendships from forming. Especially on websites like this one where people are sitting safely behind their keyboard.
Now on the other hand (and in a different situation) when we do swing, it's consensual. We've always believed that if the other one knows and approves then its not cheating. It's more like masturbating than anything. However, if anything is going on behind the others back, then that's cheating. In case your wondering, I've been married to the same wonderful woman for over 15 years.
I understand that everyone isn't as open minded as this and I respect that. But, I have to wonder why others feel compelled to shove their morality down my throat and tell me that I'm wrong. I don't judge people for their lifestyle. It may not be my thing and I may disagree with some opinions, but that doesn't make you wrong and me right.
What the whole conversation boiled down to, was how we, as individuals perceive right and wrong. That perception is colored by many influences, such as religion, society, culture and friends. So, who are we to pass judgment on who is right, wrong or moral. If no one's getting hurt then we simply have a difference of opinion, you live your life and I'll live mine.
If you agree with me that's great, if not, that's cool too. I'm interested in hearing your opinions. So, what say you? Peace........lnl

"I agree with you completely, just because you like to socialize in the nude doesn't mean it always has to be sexual. We are all adults are we not? You have every right to live your life and you and your wife see fit and without judgement. If it doesn't harm them, what's their beef. Btw you and your wife have some beautiful pictures!!!!!"
