Saturday, December 26, 2009, 4:13:48 AM- well another christmas comes and goes

Well it was a rather interesting Holiday started out with a nasty ice storm,we got paged to go to a lady having an asthma attack at the height of the blizzard that followed the ice storm, then early this morning our power goes out and late this evening we have a 13 yr old passed out and 5 miles out in the country we had to have plows to get us to both calls. Both patients are fine and home again.On a good note we arrived back at the station to Lights and heat! anyway we didnt make it to Iowa city to see the kid hoping the weather lets up enough we can go tommorow! I say lets get 09 over with bring on a new year I am tired of this one!

Thursday, December 3, 2009, 4:30:43 AM- 9 weeks today

9 weeks ago today we took our daughter to Iowa City hospital to be treated for anorexia. It has been a huge struggle for her but today we found out that she has made it to level 1 which is a huge step towards being released !! Her mother and I are so proud of the way she has battled and fought back to being a healthy young lady. The drive is about 4 hours for us one way and it has been many teary eyed trips but all worth it. I will have all my kids home for christmas !thanks to everyone who had us in their thoughts or offered a kind word .

Things were turning for the worse last week but I think she has realized that the ball is in her court and is now doing what needs to be done. I hope I am not a bad dad by pushing so hard but in my defense I am a problem solver I see something wrong and I handle it ! So yeah things are looking up we are gonna get thru this she wont be home for turkey day but thats the lumps keep thinking of us!

Our daughter is definitely on the improving side albeit slow, I know she is getting healthy and that is all that matters. As Her dad I hate not having her home and any of you parents can attest it sucks when your lil ones are away. I do have a secret weapon though, wife, kids, and friends here ! Dad is still taking it hard but dealing with it .

"I am glad she is doing better. I know what she is going through. I had issues with being too thin in high school when I was still dancing. Now I have the opposite problem and way too big. Just know that with help and time and your and your wife's love she will have a lot of support. Sometimes it is more of an one hour at a time thing rather than one day at a time thing. Just let her know you love her every chance you get."

spent the weekend visiting our daughter, things went ok she just wants to come home and thats not in the cards yet. Talked to her quite a while and I think she understands this is not gonna be a quick fix however it can be fixed and thats what matters.Did I ever mention that hotels in general suck for sleeping unless you drink heavily anyway I am tired and gonna sign off! keep me in you thoughts and thnx to all who have said a kind word or PM'd with ?s

Has been a pretty tough week here. My daughter is responding well to treatment but she is homesick as hell, I guess thats to be expected but its hard on her mom and so i always try to talk her through. I try to make time to get away after the calls to just chill (cry a little)cuz if i loose it at home we are all losing it so I try to be strong for all of us.
