It was 17 below zero Saturday morning as I left the motel. And I saw the car in the picture. Wonder where they were going to kayak. Yes the car had CA plates on it.

One Sunday a pastor told his congregation that the church needed some extra money and asked the people to prayerfully consider giving a little extra in the offering plate. He said that whoever gave the most would be able to pick out three hymns.

After the offering plates were passed, the pastor glanced down and noticed that someone had placed a $1,000.00 bill in the offering. He was so excited that he immediately shared his joy with his congregation and said he'd like to personally thank the person who placed the money in the plate.

A very quiet, elderly, saintly lady all the way in the back shyly raised her hand. The pastor asked her to come to the front. Slowly she made her way to the pastor. He told her how wonderful it was that she gave so much and in thanksgiving asked her to pick out three hymns.

Her eyes brightened as she looked over the congregation, pointed to the three handsomest men in the building and said, "I'll take him, him, and him."

It is a dark and dreary day in NoCal. Fortysome degrees, light rain and sky is almost as black as night. Street lights were still on at 8:45am when I ran to get milk. One of those days where all you want to do is crawl under the covers and cuddle. No one here to cuddle with so maybe just clean up the house.

The last six months of my life have been anything but fun. Mostly due to an estranged wife. But everyone on here has stood by me. In spite of my meltdowns. I completely appreciate this. And I want to thank Ali_Dee for putting up with me outside of here. She has endured things that she shouldn't due to forces out of our control.
Today I had bad news. A man who slightly older than I, almost a big brother to me, committed suicide a few days ago. It hit me hard. Harder than I could ever imagine. This was a man who survived Nam. Who told me mortar attacks are nothing compared to midnight rocket attacks. Who understood when I told him about people who were you friend yesterday are you against you tomorrow. And vise versa. But he died for a reason I fully comprehend. He was old. He made too much money in his last job. While all he wanted was a job to be productive until he retired.

So I apologize to Ali and the people of status. This one ripped me to my soul. It was a there for the grace go I moment. The nightmares appears when you least expect them....

It was especially hard to hear this on a day when so many young people lost their lives. For a reason we will never know.

One of my favorites is the 1952 Norman McLaren film "Neighbours" a.k.a. "Voisins," (for those in PQ). I always loved the Kinks Hatred. So someone with a mind as deranged as mine paired the two. For those of you who are not children of the cold war, the short may not have the same meaning. But hope you enjoy all the same.

As with everything else on youtube lately, this may all of a sudden show up as unavailable while playing.
