Yesterday, there was a casual get together at work. In my office, females outnumber males 6 to 3. I was the only male at the dessert and coffee break, which was kind of impromptu.

A couple of the women were commenting on "Thad" and "Terry", the other two guys, who are each roughly half my age. the comments were on how the two guys were always kind of flirty and expecting the women to find them attractive and maybe make some "magic" in the break room sometime. The rest of the women joined in the conversation and I found myself getting kind of a kick listening to this, as though they forgot I was there.

Then, one of them remarked about how I am so much more mature and professional and never do crap like that and how that's so refreshing and appreciated.

I blushed.

And yet, even at that moment, when all the women in the room were nodding in agreement that I'm quite a decent fellow, I found myself trying to use my peripheral vision to look down their blouses...

Two emails from coworkers...

one, says I have a lot of nerve taking credit for something somebody else did at work. Huh? Referring to something I was asked to do and I did it. Turns out the person who sent the email and cc'd it to all the layers of management, only heard part of the story and made a wild assumption about something totally not worthy of any assumption in the first place. And I didn't take credit. I filled out the paperwork for another person who didn't know how to do it and turned it in... end of story.

Next email... from somebody in accounting about how I'm ruining their life by doing my paperwork half-assed. To wit: I spelled a word wrong in a document in Word, that they could easily correct with a single keystroke. Actually, it was a typo... But, they chose to return it to me, pointing out my mistake in the message and explaining in detail about how things like this blah blah blah up their day.

Oh, and it was an internal form... never to see the light of day outside of the building, so the misspelling isn't going to make anyone think less of us.

I would go outdoors and have a cigarette and have a snit with my coworkers... but, I don't smoke and my coworkers are all in crabby moods today too.

I'm soooooo ready for some football!!!

Just spent a week with visitors in the house. Loved that they were here, but you get to realizing that having lunch whenever the mood strikes you, toweling off after your shower with the bathroom door open and wasting an hour on newbienudes are things that you get to missing in a hurry!
