thebody2nv's blog post - continued

Sunday, October 21, 2007, 3:13:25 PM
from last nights blog. Jp he plays the Clarinet. I was sooo disappointed(I can't lie) when my son said "dad I'm gonna do marching band this year instead of Football." When I was in High school we looked down on band members, because we were the almighty jocks. I will say I NEVER made fun of anybody, and NEVER bullied anyone. I HATE WHEN KIDS DO THAT TO EACH OTHER!!! I did put a stop to it on more than one occasion when my "friends" were doing it. Anyway Now I come to find out, they practice three times as much as any Football team I played on ever did. They are a huge group, yet they are a very close knit group, from the freshmen all the way to the Seniors. There doesn't seem to be a class separation that you get even in athletics. Girls and boys together having fun and being friends. It's soooooo refreshing and wonderful to see. I have since told him how proud of him that I am, and that if this is what he wants to do, he has my blessing to finish High School in the band. I told him if he ever wanted to play Football I'd be happy, but under no circumstances do I want him playing football just for me.

I wrote that blog last night tongue in cheek I hope you all understood, because Yes, there will be a day in the near future when he is grown and on his own, when I'll wish I could spend an entire day doing exactly what I *got* to do yesterday.

Yesterday topped out at 80 degrees at about 2:30 in the afternoon, really was a nice day. About 5:00 the wind really started to blow the storm in and by 9:00 it was really cold and windy. I got to wake this morning to SNOW!!!! IT'S SNOWING OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW, THIS SUCKS!!!!!! I'm not ready for six months of cold. my thoughts on winter

enjoy your Sunday all

Great to see that you can change your preconceptions, your son will love you for respecting and backing him. The ladies will love the 'finger' skills he will develop, not that you proably want to think about that haha

=) You're an uber-dad, Body. You know that, I know that and I'm positive your son knows it. Kudos to him for his musical ability though. I gave the clarinet up when it sounded like cats being strangled when I played.

Juuuust to make you feel bad though. I'm enjoying sunshine and 75 degree weather here. Yeaaah.

Ice carvings are so nice :)

That sounds like a great band! With clarinet he could easily double on sax too. :)

At least if my Padres are home this October it's another beautiful day in paradise.
