seshat's blog post - PM habits

Thursday, February 14, 2013, 5:36:56 AM
OK, so I have a slight paranoia issue. When I receive PM's, I sometimes wait to read them because I know I won't reply immediately. Thinking that the person will see that I've read the PM and wonder why I haven't answered.

So what are your PM habits? Do you sometimes wait to read them, or do you read them as soon as you know you have unread messages? When you send PM's, do you check regularly if that person has opened them?

Depends on the PM. Some I cast out into the wind and could care less. Others are like waiting for Christmas, 'did they see..did they see.' As for reply, my problem is not replying right away. I am almost obsessed with answering immediately..*shakes head*

I don't look to see if someone has opened an email that I sent. I just wait for a reply. If they don't reply, I don't get all butt hurt.

As for responding. Some I answer right away, others I ponder and some I open but don't get to right away. I guess it all depends on the situation or time that I have.

It varies- I use my phone much of the time I am here- so, it will be 5 minutes now, maybe 20 minutes later, etc. etc. Often I will open and read, but not have time to respond, so I do it later, problem with that is that sometimes I forget that I hadn't answered and then 5-6 days later, I just feel too stupid responding. If I should happen to receive one while on a short visit, I will open it later. And then there are the pm's that a response just doesn't seem to be needed or expected.

Someone like you - I'd want a reply - but mostly I'm pretty unstressed and take it as it comes :)

I equate receiving PMs to mail. When I was overseas in the mid 70s, it would take 10 days to get a letter from the west coast to southern italy. When I got off of the mid watch i would go stand at my mail box at the air base post office waiting to see if i got mail. I guess that is why i love junk mail, just to have something in my mail box or email or pm. funny how you can be conditioned and not realize it. I dont check to see if others have read my PM but if i get one, BAM, its read LOL.

C'est du cas par cas je dirais. :) Avec toi, réponse immédiate.
