To complement my weight training workouts, I've decided to start running... Knowing myself and my problem with self discipline, it might be overly courageous. But better than not trying at all... All I have to do now is: dig up my running shoes and heart rate monitor (from the last time I was overly enthusiastic to do sports ) and buy an MP3 player (running "lessons" in MP3).I don't know if this is internationally known, but the MP3s are based on the "start to run" program, which originally started as an initiative for people to start running in group. A few years ago, there was a Belgian television program around this initiative, and subsequently an MP3 collection was created: a well known presenter recorded instructions on when to run, when to walk, etc. and it also included music to keep people motivated. If I can follow this program, I should be able to run 5km in 10 weeks... Optimistic But just following the MP3 lessons three times a week would be a good achievement. |
