kotek001's blog post - Is it a joke?

Monday, July 7, 2008, 2:23:03 PM
This morning my "hay savior" pic had 10 votes and was rated 9.20. I'm blown out. I can only imagine two possible reasons for that: misinterpretation of the rating scale by some users (reversed understanding, mentioned on the forum) or a failure of NN's server software. They're running Microsoft's IIS. "If I ran NN..."--I'd move the site to LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)!!! OK, no point in complaining about the pic. If you think it's great, well... sure it's great! It took nearly all day to select that amazing pose, countless attempts, my back hurting badly, repairing and rebuilding the haystack... But the effect was well worth all the effort. Thank you for your appreciation! It's a slight issue with the "spoiled town child" photo: my cock is poorly visible. May be no fun, especially if all users finally figure out which grade is the best and which is the worst.

Now seriously: each time I look at any of the haystack photos it makes me think of one thing. Propaganda shows of harvest in the Peoples Republic of Poland back in the 1960s and 1970s. Young workers doing their job and an announcer voice saying something like "Thousands of young women and men in collective effort are working gaily by the sweat of their brows to the glory of the socialist homeland." I think the colors play important role here. Both those pics are almost gray. Combined with their contents, they result in such associations.

Quite important issue, I guess: "Your Location" in the pic posting form. I don't think it's very useful to mention your permanent location with every pic you post. It can be found (or should be) in your profile! But indicating location at which the pic itself was taken makes perfect sense. And that's my policy. Not a big issue so far as all my photos were taken near my place, but for some pics I'm gonna post it's quite significant.

Maybe... the photo was that good and it got the rating it merited? :)

Have a good day, fella. :D

I like the care you take with your pictures. You give them some thought - not just slam, bam. How comfortable was that haystack? I know something about haystacks, and they're not always the best place to sit in the nude.

I am a bit of a photography buff. No professional for sure, but I know more than the average Joe. Your pictures are absolutely spectacular. Composition, lighting, background, exposure (pun intended) are obviously carefully chosen by a very artistic eye.
