kittenmmm's blog post - Overtime already?

I have to say I truly enjoy my new job. I have some down time but not much. I'm training in a backwards method. I'm working on projects that someone at my level wouldn't normally be working on but I'm learning the business through the projects. In a perfect world, no one would be overly busy and I would be introduced to the business in a traditional method and trained slowly on all the items that I'm expected to do. Of course, we don't live in a perfect world so that's not how I'm being trained.

That's actually fine with me. This keeps my interest far more than slow methodical training. Some things take longer than others to sink in, particularly when dealing with our corporate culture, but other things just "pop" right away. Lucky for me, I happen to shine in the area of finding issues and tracking the causes down so it seems to be working out well. Today was one of those days where I ended up with a project that "had to be done" by the end of the day and I was able to find the problems within the process and complete it to satisfaction. I've already started to put in overtime this week and I'm sure my boss will have to justify that but he doesn't mind.

On another note, my son is home tonight hosting a sleep over for a couple of friends so I imagine I'll be up late tonight. Getting used to sleeping at night again I'll be beat by tomorrow morning. I certainly don't mind but it'll be a change! Who knows, maybe I'll actually get on line tonight and get to chat with old friends! We'll see how everything plays out with the boys.
