kittenmmm's blog post - Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work we go...

Well, my casual mornings of cleaning the house and checking blogs is soon coming to an end. Yep, I'll miss the puttering but it's off to work I go. Yippee!!

I didn't want to say anything for fear of jinxing my feelings but I got an e-mail yesterday from one of the places at which I interviewed. The manager liked me and wanted to push to hire me over an internal candidate but wanted to hear where I was in that thought process. I responded by thanking him for his vote of confidence and telling him that I wasn't daunted by the learning curve and felt that I could do a good job after my training.

I got a call this morning from the HR department. I have to go for a drug test today and then she'll call back when the results are in and we can set up the start date. Most probably Monday will be my first day back to full time work.

I'm a bit psyched right now. It's one of the jobs that is local so it will only take me about 15 minutes to get to work. That's a real plus in the winter when we have bad weather. I got a good feeling from the manager too. He seemed like a very fair and straightforward guy and I really like that in a manager. I hate playing games at work and I like to know where I stand with someone. Tell me if I do something wrong, tell me how to fix problems, be fair with me and I'll reward you with loyalty and determination. I've been fortunate to have a couple of bosses like that so I can usually tell right away if I'll enjoy working for someone. On the flipside, I've had some real shitty employers and I know from experience that it won't work out in the long run, no matter how much I need the money. It's one of my faults and one of my positives at the same time. I'm extremely loyal and hardworking but I have to be respected and valued at the same time and I can't pretend to be other than I am.

Oh boy...I gotta do something to celebrate! Hmmmm....maybe a great meal or maybe I can convince Wolf to take us out to eat! Of course, that means convincing my son to get off his computer..lol

Oh, and don't worry Straw...I'll get those soaps done before the week is up.
