June 6th, 1944. My parent's generation... and this is why they were great: Facing certain death, they didn't sit around and whine... they just did it. ~

I was accused of being a corporate spy and threatened with being fired. I have since found out that it was a temp who accused me, and that it was all just a "misunderstanding". All is well and good with the company that my company sub contracts with, but I still have a reprimand on my personnel file until the end of the year with the company I work for. As my Dad always said: "Life is not fair, son." ~

... the more I seem to be apologizing for my behavior. Am I getting a more frequent case of not being able to stop my thoughts from becoming words? Or am I the same and the world has changed to where it's no longer politically correct to speak your mind? Food for thought. ~

I have been accused of being a corporate spy. Were it not so silly, and the fact that it could cost me my job I'd be flattered. I have a boring job... I'm a janitor. Part of my duties every night entails picking up the trash in the main office. It's a big office, and I only have one hour to complete the chore. Why would I waste my time reading papers from the trash? There are no security cameras in the office, and since I don't enter the area until 10pm, there is rarely anyone there. My boss told me Tuesday that I was seen reading papers from the trash in not only one office, but four consecutive offices. There are lots of sensitive data, but most are shredded. Why would I risk 19 years on a meaningless job by risking such behavior? 3 and 1/2 more years until I can retire, and this bullshit arises? And, at age 62, where would I be able to find another full time job if I'm fired? Of course I'm pissed off and hurt. My boss said it sounds like someone has a hard on for me to get me fired. That's what I don't get... I'm always polite and nice to everyone I encounter, even if I don't like them. And the absolute firm belief that I'm innocent? To be able to read anything, I'd have to have my reading glasses on. It's all bullshit. Accused, but not able to know my accuser. You see my predicament? Jake

My favorite baseball tems are: 1. Boston Red Sox 2. Chicago Cubs 3. San Fransisco Giants (now that Barry Bonds no longer plays for them) About half way down the list of 30 MLB teams would be the Los Angeles Dodgers (Sorry, Tighty!) and dead last would be a tie between the New York Yankers (oops, I kinda mean Yankees) and the Cincinnati Deads (once again, I kinda mean Reds). The only Yankers I've ever liked were Babe Ruth (former Red Sox), Mickey Mantle and fellow Hoosier Don Mattingly. I liked the Deads when I was a little boy... Frank Robinson was my favorite player (along with Yaz for the Red Sox), and I used to see them play a lot live, but the Deads traded him for a so - so pitcher named Milt Pappas in 1969 who did nothing until traded to the Cubs, where he pitched a no hitter. Frank goes to the Orioles and wins the triple crown. The final straw was when the Deads, who had been selling out home games for eight years with the "Big Red Machine", said they couldn't afford raises for the future Hall of Famers Joe Morgan, Tony Perez and non inductee (but should be there) Pete Rose. All three went to the Phillies, who then went to the World Series two years in a row. The Deads DID give Johnny Bench and Davey Conception raises, but it didn't matter. Without the other stars, the Deads were soon losing 100 games a year. So. Memorial Day, a little baseball talk, and soon to be eating hot dogs. America... gotta love it! ~
