I am a tool guy. Yes... I admit it. I enjoy tools. I know what alot of you are thinking ,ALL guys enjoy tools. Actually that isn't actually the case. Yes all guys enjoy many aspects of tools, But to be called a "tool guy" means something more. I won't wear sandals or flip flops when I drive somewhere because I want proper attire in case something needs to be done like a flat tire or an engine problem. I will bring my extravagent footwear with me but not wear them till the right time. I like to create with my hands. I like to feel a tool slice through wood or see an antique tool measuring or dimensioning a piece of lumber.

I love old tools the most but I have to say I love my new ones too. To hear the table saw come on and have 3.5 HP of carbide tipped teeth ripping though a hard piece of red oak...oh yeaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

A rather old drill brace. Still in working use,just don't use it that often.

But the one tool I love to use the most in my shop is my hand planes. I love the feel of a well sharpened and well tuned up hand plane sliding across the surface of a piece of wood and leaving it with a finish that is as smooth as a sexy woman's Ass!!

Some of my antique hand planes,all of which I still use.

From my scrubber plane to my smoother planes I feel like using them puts me in tune with being a true craftsman and artisan .

Just an update.....

2 1/2 Weeks now and no smoking is going awesome! I even was around someone this morning that was smoking and it STUNK to me!! I have to tell ya I am mighty proud of myself!

I want to smell gardenia scented hair and sweet skin now!!

Lately it seems we see a lot more artistic teachings falling out and schools going more toward academic rather than art paths for the kids. I for one believe that teaching through art is vital to a well rounded child. Not to say that every child will be or should be an artist ,rather that the ability to think in 3 dimensions and creatively will get them further in this world!
